Our focus this year will be about developing the whole child, through academic achievement, positive and safe behaviors and good citizenship. Get acquainted with your student’s teachers by following their daily schedule and spending 10 minutes in each of their classrooms.

PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONSDuring the September conference night (Thursday, September 22nd), the guidance department will be presenting two parent information sessions. At 5pm, we will offer a presentation on the College Search Process. At 6pm, a session will be offered on Financial Aid. Both presentations will take place in the Community Room at the High School. If you have any questions, please contact the guidance office at 942-2999.

FHS HOMECOMING ‘16Parade and Football Game – Friday, October 21st

HOMECOMING - OCTOBER 21, 2016Information for Homecoming Parade participation is now available. The homecoming orientation meeting is scheduled for mid-September (date and time to be announced), at the High School.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING FREE/REDUCED STATUSFree and reduced breakfast/lunch status will carry over from last year through September 30, 2016. A 2016-2017 free/reduced lunch application will need to be filled out and processed prior to October 1, 2016 or your student will automatically go to full pay status. These applications are done on a first come basis.

Free and reduced applications will be available at the Fairfield Administration Building (4641 Bach Lane) after July 1st. They will also be sent home with your student on the first day of school.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS!In preparation for the upcoming school year all of us will be doing some back to school shopping. As you know, our district does have a student dress code. It is critical that you consider the student dress code while shopping for clothes this year. Students found to be in violation of the dress code will be asked to change and will not be permitted to attend class while in violation. Staff members will monitor the dress code, so please review it as you prepare for August 16th. To view the dress code visit the district website at www.fairfieldcityschools.com, click on Our Schools, Fairfield Senior High School, Fairfield Senior High School Main Site, Parents, Polices then proceed to Policy JFCA-R.

ID CARDSHAVE YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT SCHEDULE PICK-UP EVEN IF NOT PURCHASING A PICTURE PACKAGE. THIS IS THE ONLY TIME ID CARDS WILL BE PROCESSED DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.

ALL students, INCLUDING SENIORS, need to have their school picture taken for ID cards EVEN IF A PICTURE PACKAGE IS NOT BEING PURCHASED. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY TIME ID CARDS WILL BE PROCESSED DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. Schedules will be distributed only after your picture is taken.

HIGH SCHOOL PARENT E-MAILThe high school sends a daily e-mail to any parent requesting this service. E-mails include announcements, as well as reminders about conference dates and open houses.

On the left side of the main page, click on “Sign up for School Email News!” and follow the directions. If you were receiving announcements from the freshman school you will need to change your preferences to indicate you would like to receive the high school announcements.

(New Students/Sophomores Only)

August 9 TUESDAY-9:00-3:00 (All Students – schedules available)

August 10 WEDNESDAY-9:00-3:00 (All Students – schedules available)

(Lifetouch will mail picture packets home. If you do not receive one, additional packets will be available at the high school.)

School ID cards are processed from this picture. Even if you do not wish to purchase a picture packet, all students need to get their picture taken for ID purposes, including all seniors. Schedules will only be distributed to those students that have had their picture taken.

FAIRFIELD HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH COALITIONFairfield High School Youth Coalition will begin their open meetings August 26th in the Community Room from 2:40-3:30pm. The meetings are held every other Friday, unless a school holiday. SOPHOMORE AND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION ** MONDAY** AUGUST 8FOR STUDENTS:

Session 1: A — F 9:00 am

Session 2: G — O 10:30 am

Session 3: P — Z 11:45 am

Students should plan to attend the formal orientation session held in the Performing Arts Center at their assigned time. Before or after the orientation session, students will be able to tour the building, pay fees, have their school picture taken and pick-up their schedule. LifeTouch will begin photographing students on Monday at 8 am. School ID cards are processed from this picture, so even if you do not wish to purchase a picture package it is important to have a picture taken. Schedules will only be distributed to students that have had their picture taken.

EVENING SESSION PARENTS/STUDENTS:

MONDAY, August 8th 6:00-7:30 pm – Performing Arts Center

(A LifeTouch Photographer will be available for pictures.)

The bookkeeper will be available throughout the day on August 8 to give students and parents the opportunity to pay school fees as indicated on the student’s schedule.

Schedule pick-up for returning juniors, seniors and any sophomores or new students unable to attend on the 8th will be Tuesday and Wednesday, August 9 and 10 from 9 am to 3:00 pm.

LifeTouch will begin photographing students at 9 am on August 9 and 10.

7MARCHING BAND NEWSThe Marching band is anxious to perform our 2016-2017 show, entitled “Bases Loaded.” We have been rehearsing hard during our camps in July, as well as performing at the Hamilton 4th of July parade and our Drum Corps International show at on June 27th.

Football games in September:• Fairfield vs. Northmont on September 2nd

• Fairfield vs. Middletown on September 16th

• Fairfield vs. Sycamore (Band Night) on September 30th

Competition dates in September:• Troy on September 10th

• Hamilton on September 24th

We hope to see you out cheering on the students this season! Go Indians!

MUSIC NEWS TO NOTEWelcome back! Please join us at our first Tempo Club meeting on September 14th at 7:30 pm in the Community Room.

CALENDAR DAY!

Music students from the entire district will be distributing calendars and asking for donations on Saturday, September 17th.

PANCAKE BREAKFASTS–

The Marching Band will be hosting its annual “BANDCAKE” Breakfast on October 8thth in the FHS Cafeteria

The Rhythm Express/Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast will be October 29th at FHS Cafeteria.

Please join us at our upcoming concerts. All concerts are at 7:00 pm in the Fairfield High School PAC and are free and open to the public.
