What is Recycling?
Recycling is taking something like paper, aluminum, or plastic, after its
been used, and turning it into the same thing or a new product.
Facts about Recycling
• In a person’s lifetime they will throw away 600 times their weight in garbage.
• If we recycle the aluminum that Americans throw away we could rebuild the entire U.S. airline fleet every three months
• Recycling one glass bottle saves enough electricity to light a 100-watt bulb for four hours.
• The US has 6% of the world’s population, but produces half of the garbage.
• Each ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill, 4,000 kilowatts of energy, and 7,000 gallons of water.
