Pupil can demonstrate confident praccal skills, awareness of Health & Safety rules and measuring accurately. Learning Intenons Pupils will be able to: Work in a safe manner in a workshop environment and will be encouraged to work independently. Measure, cut and finish various Carcase and Flat Frame construcon joints such as Through Housing Joints, Dowel Joints, Lap Joints and Cross Halving Joints to a tolerance of 1mm. Use safe working pracse to set up and use machinery whilst in the workshop including Sanding Machine, Pedestal Drill, Morse Machine and Woodwork Lathe. Complete a Final model that will be completed with lile/no assistance from the teacher. Complete regular homework during the week as well as aending one period of theory work per week. The majority of the course is based in the workshop with pupils building on their basic hand skills from Naonal 4. Pupils will be assessed in class me by means of : Praccal tasks/projects carried out for each area of the course - Flat Frame Construcon , Carcase Construcon and Machining and Finishing. These assessments are for internal purposes only and will allow their class teacher to monitor the pupils progress. Demonstrate safe working pracse by maintaining a detailed logbook of their ability to safely use and maintain tools and machinery. Final Assessment: A course Assignment Task towards the end of the session allowing the pupils to demonstrate the skills they have gained while undertaking the three course areas, (70%) Final Wrien Exam (30%) Pupils must successfully complete projects in all areas to have the skills necessary to complete the Assignment Task.
