Department activities
EETA Inauguration – Electrical Engineers Technical Association
Department student activity club – EETA was inaugurated on July 14-07-2017. Dr Keshav ,
consultant, Ministry of Electronics and Information technology inaugurated the student association
and delivered a lecture series on “ e-Waste and its recycling process”. Various activites like Quiz, Jam
for students were conducted to enhance the student’s communication and inter personal skills.
Train the Trainers in Industrial Automation
As a part of capacity building among the teachers, fourdays training programme for teachers was
scheduled in the area of automation. Basics of Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Electropneumatics was
conducted. During the session Ms Bhagyashree from ToyotaKirloskar who had represented India in
world skills competition delivered lecture series and also trained in electropneumatics.
Seminar on Industrial Process and Automation
A Seminar on Industrial Process and Automation was conducted for the selected students
from Department of EEE, MECH, ECE and Automobile. Seminar was arranged under the
umbrella of EETA & MAC – Students associations of EEE and MECH.
Industrial expert Mr. Venugopal who has 25 years of experience in Automation was giving
the seminar on the topic mentioned. He had executed several automation projects in and
around the world. He is an ex- regional manager of General electric, USA and worked in
USA, Singapore for 15 years. He is currently the Managing director of Venjay Institute of
Automation.
During the seminar, students were exposed to demo of live projects of them in Arjun Battle
Tank, Barrel manufacturing unit (Middle east countries) etc. He also explained about
SCADA VFD. Students were given Hands on experience on PLC, Pneumatics, and
Hydraulics. Mr.Arun who is the site engineer from Venjay Institute of Automation gave
explanation about various components used in automation
Tech Talk on Synchro- Phasors
As part of the inititative from the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering a Technical talk
and an interactive session was held with Research Scholar from IIT Kanpur to facilitate a platform for
knowledge sharing. The session included a detailed talk on Synchro Phasors followed by interactive
session. Mr. Vineeth VResearch ScholarDepartment of Electrical EngineeringIIT-Kanpur delivered
the session
Dissection of Matlab
A workshop on dissection of Matlab was conducted by Mr VenkatswamyR ,Asst.Professor, EEE
department for PG 1st sem ,Btech 3
rd sem and 5
th sem students on 10
th august 2017.The section was
divided into two .Morning section which was mainly focusing on basics of Matlab. Afternoon section
included the programs which focused on the syllabus. To the end of the section we executed programs
and we were able to learn the required
IEEE PES STUDENT CONGRESS 2017
IEEE Power & Energy Society Christ University Student Branch in association with Department of
Electrical & electronics Engineeringhosted the IEEE PES Student Congress 2017 at Faculty of
Engineering, Christ University on 5 September 2017. It was one of the flagship events of IEEE PES
Bangalore Chapter. The event was attended by 73 participants from various Universities and
Engineering Colleges. The theme chosen for the Student congress 2017 was “Innovations in Power
and Energy Sector”.
Workshop on “Internet of Everything”
Workshop on “Internet of Everything” was organized jointly from Gnanagenea Technologies and the
department of electrical and electronics engineeringon February 27th to March 1st 2018 (3 Days)
during Magnovite Season 7. Python programs for Raspberry Pi hardware using OpenIoE platform
were demonstrated. Hands-on sessions, discussion of smart application and guidance for the
advance learners facilitated in the workshop. Topics covered in the workshop are bi-directional data
transfer in cloud database, sensor signal acquisition, IoT based control and monitoring.
