It’s time to look at architectural panels in a whole

new light. As a company, we stand strong as an

industry innovator, manufacturer and one of the

best resources in the ield. Our four decades

of panel design and quality manufacturing, along

with nationwide facilities, place Fabral in a unique

position to serve customers large and small and

provide them with on-site ield support and

technical advice.

Fabral maintains a broad range of product designs

and color choices that are not only architecturally

appealing but also congruent with “Green Building”

guidelines. Fabral products are manufactured from

substrates that utilize a signiicant amount of

recycled material and are coated with Flurobond™

High Deinition Coating systems which allow

many of the colors to relect a signiicant amount

of heat away from the structure. In fact, virtually

every panel that Fabral makes carries the

Energy Star® approval for energy eiciency. Fabral

panels also earn U.S. Green Building Council’s

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

(LEED) points, which count toward obtaining

“Green Building” certiication for energy eicient,

environmentally-friendly structures.

Aesthetically pleasing, durable and sustainable,

Fabral architectural panels ofer contractors

and architects the inest choice of materials and

customer service on the market today.

Fabral manufactures a full line of light gauge cold-formed

steel sections for use in secondary framing applications.

Steel sections provide economic secondary structural

framing for pre-engineered metal buildings, carports,

canopies, walkway covers, parking covers and eyebrow

canopies. They are also used as the primary structural

framing of single story mini-storage structures.

The sections are available in 16 Gauge (.060")*, 14

Gauge (.077")* and 12 Gauge (.099")* thicknesses.

Zee, Cee and Channel standard sizes are 4" to 12"

depths (even 2" increments). Angle standard sizes

are 2"x 2", 2"x 4" and 3"x 3". Eave Strut standard sizes

are 8"x 5"x 2 1/2" and 8"x 5"x 5". These sections are

available with either a red-oxide prime or hot-dipped

galvanized protective coating. Red-oxide members are

manufactured from ASTM A570 Grade 55 steel (55 KSI

minimum yield strength). Galvanized members are

manufactured from ASTM A653 G-90 Galvanized

Grade 55 steel (55 KSI minimum yield strength).

Fabral’s manufacturing capabilities produce Zee purlins

to symmetrical or asymmetrical designs. Eave Struts

can be produced for high and low eaves and are available

in single and double slope coniguration. Standard

purlin punching patterns include A, B, C, G and H

web punching which allows for simple span, short lap

and long lap conditions. Custom punch patterns and

custom shapes are available; please consult your Fabral

representative for details.

Light gauge cold-formed structural steel sections are

produced in Grapevine, TX and Salem, OR.

*Thicknesses indicated represent design thicknesses. Minimum deliverable bare steel thickness equals 0.95 x design thickness in accordance with Section A3.4 of the AISI Speciications for minimum steel thickness in inches.

Structural Member Beneits:

• Made to order

• 55 KSI Yield Strength

• 70 KSI Tensile Strength

• Prime Red-Oxide (produced only in Grapevine, TX) or Galvanized G-90

• ASTM A570 and ASTM A653 Qualiied

ASTM E1592 UPLIFT

This is the latest metal rooing uplift test. This test simulates actual ield conditions because of the large

chamber. The test chamber is usually at least ive panels wide by length to test multiple purlin spacings

(usually 25'). Air pressure is applied, delections are recorded and panels are closely examined after each test

cycle. Failure loads are recorded so the test results can be used for design purposes unlike the UL uplift test

results. This is the standard test required for standing-seam panels on Army Corps. of Engineers’ projects.

FACTORY MUTUAL

This approval includes wind uplift testing using ASTM E1592. Class I-90 must resist 90 psf uplift load.

MIAMI DADE APPROVAL

This approval requires wind uplift testing, wind driven rain testing, among others to meet the high wind

hurricane zones in Florida.

UL90 UPLIFT RATING

This wind uplift resistance test (UL580) has become an industry standard. Test panel specimens are placed

on a 10' x 10' test chamber and fastened to the tested substrate. The test involves severe load cycling as well

as testing for a sustained period of ive minutes at a maximum uplift pressure of 105 psf for a UL90 rating.

UL60 and UL30 ratings are similar to UL90 ratings except that the maximum uplift pressure is 75 psf and 45

psf respectively. Because the specimens are not tested to failure and the test assembly is not similar to an

actual roof assembly, test ratings and assemblies should not automatically be used for design purposes.

AIR INFILTRATION

ASTM E283 is a static air iniltration test using an air-tight test chamber assembly in the form of a large box.

The panel test specimens constitute one of the sides of the box. Air is forced into or exhausted from the test

chamber, producing a pressure diferential across the specimen. The amount of air passing through the test

panels is measured in cfm. ASTM E1680, a new standard, is the air iniltration and exiltration test standard

designed speciically for metal roof panels.

WATER PENETRATION

ASTM E331 is a static water penetration test. The test chamber is identical to the air iniltration test.

Diferential pressures are applied for 15 minutes while spraying water uniformly over the exterior surface

of the panel test specimens. The passing requirement for ASTM E331 is that there shall be no evidence of

any “uncontrolled leakage” during the test. ASTM E1646, a new standard, is the water penetration test

standard designed speciically for metal roof panels.

FIREWALL PANELS

UL rated one, two and three hour ire-resistant panels are available utilizing Fabral steel (and aluminum in

some cases) liner panels and exterior proiles. Field assembled layers of gypsum wall board (5/8" thick per

layer) and glass iber insulations are placed between the liner and exterior panels. Contact Fabral for speciic

information on these irewalls.

Consult Fabral for other test data availability. 35
