Sunflower Seed are grown out of the flowers head Farm Harvest

Farm HarvestWhen the back of the head turns yellow it indicates the sunflowers have reached maturity. When the back of the head turns brown, it usually means that its time for harvestings.

The Farms use a big machine that picks the heads of the body of the plant. And if you have one at home you can just scrape them off with a spoon.

How does the Sunflower Grow?

To grow a sunflower it need to be planted early Spring time after the last freeze days. Once planted it need lots of sun, its a given its in the name Fun Tips and/or History

1 cup sunflower margarine (Promise)1 cup granulated sugar1 cup brown sugar, packed2 eggs1 teaspoon vanilla2 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon baking powder1/4 teaspoon salt2 cups oats, rolled 1 cup raw or roasted sunflower kernels

In medium size mixing bowl, combine margarine and sugars until well-blended. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; mix well. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats, and sunflower kernels. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350F 8 to 10 minutes, or until cookies are brown around the edges. May substitute chocolate chips or raisins for coconut.4 dozen cookies

Life lessonTaking this course help me understand how to eat healthier and helped my children eat health too. Learning about super foods opened my eyes to what a person should eat and what is good for your body.
