EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Mexico 2013 Gala Dinner Supplement
This year’s EY Entrepreneur Of The
Year™ program in Mexico, which is the
fourth year in a row for the program in
our market, was a highlight event for
EY Mexico. It has been an honor for us
to work with this group of finalists who
have enjoyed success in the business
world thanks to their audacity and
resourcefulness.
Throughout the program, we had the
opportunity to get to know 47 Mexican
entrepreneurs who have set out to
change the world in their own way.
These entrepreneurs have dared to
dream that they can make a difference
and they have worked passionately day
after day to follow through on their
vision.
The experience the program offers is
not over for our finalists. In fact, being
selected by the panel of judges is only
the beginning, since from that moment
on the finalists become members of an
exclusive online community called the
Winners Network. This private network,
accessible 24 hours a day all year long,
brings its members together with a
distinguished group of their peers from
around the world to share ideas.
Program finalists may also join
Exchange, a series of live events where
regional groups of entrepreneurs
and general directors of high-growth
companies in similar stages of
development come together for a
unique opportunity to share strategies
for getting ahead in the market and to
learn from the experiences of those who
have faced challenges and opportunities
similar to their own.
Medicus, this year’s National
Winner, will participate in the World
Entrepreneur Of The Year™ event that
will be held in 2014 in Monte Carlo,
Monaco. Here, the success and tenacity
of entrepreneurs from more than 50
countries will take center stage.
This event is the culmination of the local
editions of the Entrepreneur Of The
Year program and it represents a unique
opportunity for visionaries from around
the world to spend time together, share
ideas and create a business network
with a global reach. Attendees will also
have the chance to hear the stories
of a group of renowned speakers as
they share the decisive factors of their
success.
Although the 2013 edition of the
program has come to a close, we look
forward to many more years of the EY
Entrepreneur Of The Year™ program
and the continued interaction and
collaboration that it will surely bring.

Good evening. All of us at EY Mexico are proud to share
with you some of our most significant achievements
during the first four editions of our EY Entrepreneur
Of The Year program: each year we have had more and more
women entrepreneurs participate in the program; we have
developed powerful tools for entrepreneurs and compelling
initiatives like the Global Center for Entrepreneurship and
Innovation and the Strategic Growth Forum®; and we have
created strong collaborative partnerships with the National
Entrepreneur Institute to undertake a number of exciting
projects and we have continued to support the work of other
organizations to further entrepreneurship in Mexico.
The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program has become
an ideal setting for dialogue and partnering between the
major players in Mexico’s entrepreneurial community. The
international reach, the access to a vast network of global
contacts that participants enjoy and the prestige that our
program provides for participants across the more than 50
countries it reaches, have given us a unique opportunity to
provide a voice for our community of business visionaries to
express their needs and perspectives.
EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™: driving entrepreneurship
Before handing out the awards to the finalists of the 2013 edition
of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ program, Francisco Álvarez
del Campo, CEO and General Manager of EY Mexico and Central
America, expressed his gratitude to the participants for being part
of this year’s program, and praised their hard work and dedication
to building their companies.

EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Mexico 2013 Gala Dinner Supplement
When we launched the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Mexico
program in 2010, we originally envisioned it as a forum for
paying tribute to Mexico’s entrepreneurs as they drive the
country’s economy and create most of its job opportunities.
However, we have since realized that our program has
become so much more than just this, as is seen by the growth
and achievements of the companies of our National Winners.
For this year’s edition, two of our past winners joined the
judging panel: Lorenzo Barrera Segovia, General Manager,
Partner, and Member of the Board of Banco BASE and the
2012 National Winner, and Rodrigo Herrera Aspra, Co-
founder and President of the Board of Directors of Genomma
Lab Internacional, and our 2010 National Winner and
program Judge in 2011 and 2012. Rodrigo has also made
his mark as a member of the judging panel for the World
Entrepreneur Of The Year event in 2012 and 2013.
Other members of the Mexican business community have
been kind enough to lend a hand to the program, including
two of this year’s judges: Raúl Ferráez Pérez Pascal, Director
of the magazines Líderes Mexicanos, Petróleo & Energía, and
Latino Leaders, and Alfonso González Migoya, President of
the Board and General Manager of Grupo Industrial Saltillo.
We know that the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Mexico
program has much more to offer to those who take part in
it. We are certain that the enthusiasm and energy that our
entrepreneurs bring to our program
will lead the way for even better things
to come. All of the visionaries we are
honoring today are already winners
because they have dared to dream and
to take a chance to make their dreams
come true. Congratulations to all of you
for being winners already and thank you
for being a part of EY’s efforts to build a
better working world.

This program represents an opportunity
to honor the achievements of Mexico’s
entrepreneurs but it is also a platform
to guide and motivate them towards
success. This is the main aim of this and
other initiatives created by the Firm
to promote a global entrepreneurial
culture. This is why the fourth
consecutive edition of EY Entrepreneur
Of The Year™ Mexico was so exciting,
since it gave us a special opportunity to
pay tribute to a group of entrepreneurs
who have stood out thanks to their
audacity and resourcefulness. During
the gala dinner, attendees had the
chance to interact with the finalists,
who represent a new generation of
Mexican entrepreneurs who have truly
set out to change the world. These
entrepreneurs have dared to dream that
everything can change and they have
worked passionately every day to build
their dreams.
EY honors Mexican entrepreneurial talent
The 47 finalist entrepreneurs from 39 companies attended
this year’s awards ceremony where, before giving out the
awards, Francisco Álvarez, CEO and General Manager of EY
Mexico and Central America, highlighted the importance of
this platform that honors Mexican talent.
Emilio Díaz, Managing Partner of EY Mexico’s Markets and
Client Services, was the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s
awards ceremony.
Support and coordinated work
For EY Mexico, trust is contagious. Entrepreneurs bring
the world the inspiration needed to grow the economy and
revolutionize how business is done. Through hard work and
willingness to seize opportunities, these entrepreneurs are
able to build exciting companies that stand out from the pack
by offering innovative products and services in settings that
are not always ideal.
EY’s efforts have benefited from the support of different
institutions that from their vantage points in the economy,
advocate entrepreneurship through direct support and
coordinated efforts. An example of this is BBVA Bancomer,
sponsor of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2013 Mexico
Francisco Álvarez welcoming the finalists and guests.

EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Mexico 2013 Gala Dinner Supplement
program, which is unyielding in its work encouraging the
exchange and implementation of ideas of entrepreneurs
from around the world. Mario Marín de la Serna, Director of
BBVA Bancomer’s SME segment, shared a message with the
finalists and awards ceremony attendees emphasizing the
ways that BBVA Bancomer’s vision is right in step with EY’s vision.
Mario stressed that BBVA Bancomer is a corporate group that
works for both people and businesses, and that it is present in
more than 14 countries, serves 43 million customers, and has
more than 110 thousand employees. “At BBVA Bancomer, we
are convinced that the entrepreneurial ecosystem must be
built starting with university students through conversations
that stimulate their entrepreneurial spirit, and by working
with the government and the private sector to bring stability
and ensure the continuity of businesses, to create more jobs.”
Marín pointed out that: “BBVA Bancomer takes part in these
programs because our vision highlights the importance of
recognizing, helping, and encouraging entrepreneurs to keep
moving forward and to being their ally.”
At the end of his talk, Mario underlined the fact that this
is a critical time for Mexican companies because “the time
is right for SMEs and Mexico is now front and center on
the world stage, and BBVA Bancomer wants to be with our
entrepreneurs along their journeys. On behalf of BBVA
Bancomer, it is my sincerest wish that this program continues
on for many years to come.”
Unique personalities and stories
In our ever shifting world, only a small number of people truly
take risks. Few individuals are willing to put their capital and
reputations on the line to see their ideas come to life. The
unique personalities and stories of our entrepreneurs, who,
thanks to their vision, perseverance, and enthusiasm have
created companies that, step by step have made their mark
on Mexico’s different industries.
The group of entrepreneurs that took part in the EY
Entrepreneur Of The Year 2013 program share a number of
defining characteristics, such as creativity, dedication, and
industry knowledge and accordingly, all the finalists received
their award from representatives of EY Mexico and some of
the gala’s most prestigious attendees.
Mario Marín de la Serna of BBVA Bancomer.
We are convinced that the entrepreneurial ecosystem must be built starting with university students through conversations that stimulate their entrepreneurial spirit.

This is a great award, since it is so important for us for a Firm like EY to value the work that we do every day to make a company like Iluméxico work, and to reach and help Mexico’s most underprivileged communities. Winner of the Under Development category
Creativity to achieve success
The winner of the Under Development category received the
award from Guadalupe Castañeda, Lead Partner of Strategic
Growth Markets of EY Mexico and Central America, and Mario
Marín, Director of the SME Segment of BBVA Bancomer, who
congratulated Tanya Moss Baran for the determination and
creativity she has demonstrated from the early days of her

accessory brand, and has won legions of loyal customers.
The passion with which Tanya tackles each of her projects
translates into products that stand out for their excellent
craftsmanship.
Redoubling efforts for MexicoBefore the National Winner was announced, attendees of the gala event heard a message from Enrique Jacob Rocha, President of the National Entrepreneur Institute (INADEM). Enrique’s talk highlighted the increased role that entrepreneurship has played in Mexico since the beginning of this year when the Federal government increased its drive to promote the development of companies lead by visionary men and women.
Said Enrique: “The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ program, whose fourth edition comes to a close today, pays tribute to the entrepreneurial talent that is the main driver of the changes that Mexico needs. The creativity, energy, and audacity that characterize Mexico’s entrepreneurs are just what our economy needs.”
Enrique also encouraged the finalists to keep doing what they do: “Entrepreneurs find opportunities in tough situations. They don’t let obstacles stop them, and they maintain the level of motivation that sets them apart from others. You are all examples of this.”
After delivering his message, Enrique congratulated EY Mexico for its hard work and vision towards the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ program, and he also congratulated the finalists because just being there meant that they were already winners.
When all the finalists were named, it was quite a humbling experience because all the other finalists lead such great companies. Each of them has worked very hard for their companies and their people, but they have worked hard especially to contribute to growing Mexico‘s economy. Thank you EY for allowing me to be a part of this great program and for supporting Mexico’s entrepreneurs, whose contributions may sometimes be small financially speaking, but which play such a big part in achieving something bigger.
