• Off-shore drilling has been proven to be less dangerous for the environment than shipping oil on tankers

• Off-shore oil drilling lower the fuel prices and play a significant role for the country

Off-Shore Oil- The Bad

• Over 61 thousand barrels of oil are drilled per day globally

• BP did not rank in top five fined for safety and inspection violations in the past decade, coming in 7th, after:1. Chevron2. Apache Corporation3. Pogo Producing Company

Off-Shore Oil

• In between 1993-2007, there were 651 oil spills, releasing over 47 thousand barrels

• Over 4 thousand oil rigs operating in the Gulf of Mexico as of August 2010

• US demand is now 6.7 billion barrels per year

BP Oil Spill

• Approximately 640 miles in Gulf Coast was covered in oil

• More then 34.7 million of gallons of water and oil have been recovered

• BP was an industry leader concerning oil spills in the past decade before the most recent spill in the Gulf of Mexico

Alternatives

For every one million dollars the USA was to invest in clean energy technology, three times more jobs would be created than if the same amount of money were invested in oil and gasoline production.
