PHASES OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN

MITIGATION Prevent or diminish the negative impact of an emergency on the

wellbeing of the patients, visitors and staff as well as the physical facility.

PREPAREDNESS Identify resources essential to execute the emergency response

and recovery and facilitate their access and utilization. RESPONSE Educate and train the staff to respond effectively to internal

emergencies that effect the environment of care and test response mechanism.

RECOVERY- Plan processes for restoring normality of operations after the incident.

• Applies when there is only a potential for disaster or the disaster is limited nature in terms of anticipated patient load/ severity

ALERT

• Applies when present on-site capabilities are deemed adequate for the anticipated patient load/severity

MINOR

• Applies when the anticipated patient load/ severity is likely to overload present on site- site capabilities such as that additional staffs are required
