Warm-Up

“Exploring the Rainforest”Groups will explore the first layer of the kmz file and answer the questions on the handout. We will do this as a class*what to look for*identify geographical features you may have trouble with initially~What do you notice as you explore this layer?~What kinds of information can you get from zooming in closely on specific points or areas?~What kinds of information can you get from looking at the region as a whole?

What are human populations doing in the region? Look at a specific aspect of human activity in the region. Your specific

topic is on your sheet (Countries, Local Populations, Businesses, or Conservation/deforestation) Be an expert...you are about to represent your view to 3 others with different

views! One representative from each view will be in a group. “Competing

Concerns in the Amazon.” Answer the questions on the sheet using the different knowledge that each of you have from your last group. You will need everyone in your new group to share. Record the name and responses on one sheet.
