Issues and SolutionsOur actions can lead to

positive change.Issues, problems, issues! There are big and little issues and problems that concern a lot of people. Some problems and issues have obvious solutions while some issues and problems seem to have no solution.

In your Exhibition process you will get a chance to apply your skills as an action taker to some of these issues and problems. You will be choosing a real problem(either local or global) and carefully working through to a solution and take some action to help this issue or problem.

Working through this Exhibition journal will help you organize your time and resources to discover the best solution to your chosen issue or problem.

Good luck!

Why is this a problem/issue?

• You have chosen this problem for a reason.• How Does it affect your life or those around you?• How Does it affect your feelings or emotions?• Why Do you think it is important?

Why do you feel a responsibility for this problem/issue?

Inner Journey

Our actions can lead to positive change.

For me the big concern is the trees getting cut down. This affects our lives because trees make us breath. I don’t think the humans understand what their doing because when they cut down trees they destroy animal homes and many other things.

This cutting down tree thing makes me really sad because every time I hear about this it makes me think abut the animal homes getting destroyed and how it would feel like to be one of those animals but it also kind of makes me happy because I know that I can make a change.

I think this is really important because if we don’t make change then we will all die and I don’t want that to happen, do you?

REFLECTIONOur actions can lead to

positive change. You have chosen a topic. •Has it changed from your first thoughts? How and why? •Are you happy with this development? •You have been put in a group. Who is in the group? •Why are they in your group? •Do you think the group can work co-operatively and effectively? How and why?•What did you think about your first week?

My topic was natural disasters but we had to move to a specific topic so I chose tsunamis. It changed from my first thoughts because I thought that tsunamis were the same as tidal waves but they’re not. I'm really happy with this development because so far I've learned a lot. In my group there is Quino, Moira and Seoyoung and me. They are in my group because they were also interested in the topic that I chose. I think my group can work cooperatively because they have all worked well so far.I think my first week was very good because we did lots of work, we also did what we had to do.

Process Reflection

These are things I thought about our topic before BUT now we think differently

The are ideas I had about our problem/issue before AND I still have now

These are things about our problem/issue that still challenge us and I still wonder about

We would like our audience to leave our presentation with these “BIG UNDERSTANDINGS”

Synthesizing and Connecting

Our actions can lead to positive change.

Before I thought that tsunamis were just waves and that they were really hard to study but now I know that there are lots o things to study and that its really fun to study.

Before my ideas were that it was bad and that it only caused problems I still think that now.

One of the problems that still challenges me is what causes a tsunami because its hard to study and there are still lots of things to wonder about.

That a tsunami is bad. That a tsunami destroys things. That we can help people who are in a tsunami.

Think of Solutions.ACTION!

Brainstorm a wide range of ideas that could help solve this problem/issue

Here is your chance to be creative. Write down all possible answers. Do not discard any yet because this is your chance to start thinking outside the box to find a creative solution. Be creative, unusual, fanciful, practical and obvious. S T R E T C H your imagination!

Our actions can lead to positive change.

By making a wall, sending helicopters to save people who are floating in the middle of the water, going into the future and make a magnetic force field to stop the tsunami, making machines to tell the people who are in a tsunami to evacuate, we shall tell all the people who are victims of a tsunami and not only people who are near a warning system.

REFLECTIONActing and SharingWe can make a difference

Our group didn’t specifically make a difference ourselves but we made something we hoped would persuade other people to make a difference. What we made was a flier with a picture that showed how dangerous a tsunami is and what happens after it attacks on countries. We also made a book with all the information we could put in it we put this book in the library and we hope that people will check it out because it gives lots of information about tsunamis.

Exhibition night- Reflection

When my group did our presentation to the parents I was really excited because it was my first time talking in front of a crowd of parents. At the beginning of the presentation I was kind of disappointed because not that many people came to see, so then my group wanted to start because we thought that no more people would come. Luckily we made the choice to wait five more minutes then more and more people came in and we had a full house!Fro that moment on it went really well and we a lots of fun.
