Qualification (Discovery)Before we begin our search, we take the time to get to know you, understand your company, your business objectives, your plan to achieve them and any challenges you face, so we can support you in building the right team to deliver them. We’ll agree the screening process with you, so you get exactly what you want from us, when you want it.

We believe it’s important to understand the existing landscape within a business, which is why we conduct a 360-degree qualification process. During this process, we ensure all your expectations are aligned with your existing stakeholders. Finally, we can also conduct a personality type and natural strengths assessment on your existing leadership team to ensure that any candidates coming in will complement what you already have in place.

Screening (Candidate - 6 tiers)Real Executive’s unique six-tiered screening methodology uncovers everything you need to know about the candidate. It’s customisable to your needs; with two fundamental tiers that can be used in combination with any or all of the remaining four sections to give as full an insight as possible into a candidate and their qualities.

The 6 tiers:

• Technical Screening: A fundamental tier to confirm the candidates’ technical skills.

• Competency Screening: This second fundamental tier uses example-based interviewing to match the candidates with the competencies agreed in the job specification.

• Personality Type: A useful step in assessing fit with your current team.

• Natural Strengths: Highlights the candidates’ innate qualities, allowing you to build a complementary team whose diverse talents support each other.

• Leadership Ability: Screening against eight leadership competencies to illustrate how the candidates can help drive your business forward.

Once screening is complete, Real Executive will provide feedback on each shortlisted candidate with recommendations about how their qualities fit with what you’ve said about your business; allowing you to make the most informed decision possible. Fee generation:

InterMune asked Real Executive to help with: Timeline of Recruitment Process - VP Rheumatoid Athritis (8 weeks):

• Week 1: Real created a client brief, detailed job description and cultural brief after a meeting with the company GM and HR Director.

• Week 2: Real completed due diligence (ensuring no searches with associated or affiliated companies).

• Week 3: A week search and screening programme (technical and competency based questionnaires plus reference check)

• Week 4-5: 2 weeks face-to-face screening of candidates with a senior consultant

• Week 6: Selected candidates interviewed by the client HR Director, VP General Manager and VP of QA.

• Week 7: Candidate offered via Real Staffing at the end of the week.

• Week 8: Start date was 3 months later, after the candidate’s notice period.

Peloton Therapeutics Real were asked by Peleton Therapeutics, a venture backed, oncology start-up located in Dallas, Texas to take over a search that had been on-going for a year. A few weeks after the start of the first search we were asked to start a second. Timeline of Recruitment Process - VP Clinical Development (13 weeks):

• Week 1: VP Clinical Development role received.

• Week 2-3: VP Clinical Development candidates submitted to Peloton Therapeutics.

• Week 4: Phone interviews conducted.

• Week 5-8: Final onsite interviews conducted.

• Week 9: Lead candidate selected, offer made.

• Week 10-13: Candidate resigned from current company, offer signed and returned.

Timeline of Recruitment Process - VP Biology (12 weeks):

• Week 1: VP Biology role received.

• Week 2-3: VP Biology candidates submitted to Peloton Therapeutics.

• Week 4-6: Phone interviews conducted.

• Week 7-8: Final onsite interviews conducted.

• Week 9-11: Lead candidate selected, offer made.

• Week 12: Candidate resigned from current company, offer signed and returned.

Peloton Therapeutics have continued to work with the Real Executive team and further searches are underway.

The Team Tom Froggatt: Head of Life Sciences Practice, EuropeTom is a founding member of Real Executive and oversees our European operations, as well as personally managing many of our European searches. Tom began his recruitment career as one of the early members of Real Staffing’s Pharmaceutical & Biotech team in London. He then set up Real’s New York business, building it into one of the largest Life Sciences recruitment businesses on the East Coast, before moving back to London to launch Real Executive. Tom has ten years of Recruitment and Search experience in the Life Sciences industry; and has worked and managed teams in the UK, US, Europe and Africa.

Dandan Zhu: Principal, East CoastDandan is responsible for our East Coast US business in New York. She was one of the first employees of Real Staffing in New York and specialises in building long term relationships with both clients and candidates.

Ellie Laidlaw: Principal, West CoastEllie works out of Real Executive’s San Francisco offices and leads recruiting assignments for executive-level positions in R&D, Sales and Marketing, and General Management. She specializes in securing mission critical talent for early stage companies and advising her clients on a range of leadership issues. Prior to joining Real Staffing, she worked in UCSF’s Hematology Oncology Phase I Unit.

Real Executive Researchers:We have a pool of researchers that are assigned to roles on the type of project and urgency. All our researchers have extensive experience in executive search and have usually worked as recruiters before moving into researcher roles. We view their roles as essential in the whole process as they help co-ordinate diaries, check availability and ensure that we’re transparent and keeping our clients up-to-date at all times with the recruitment process.
