Executive Report-Lab DRX-2010 to 2019

Presentation

The X-Ray Diffraction Laboratory (Lab DRX) is one of the units of the X-Ray

Analysis Laboratory (Lab LARX), which in turn belongs to the Multi-User Central

of UEL's Research Laboratories (CMLP-UEL).

Lab DRX started operating in November 2010, and in 2013, together with

five other laboratories, formed the complex now called Lab LARX, characterized

by material analysis using X-ray techniques. A thin-film laboratory was recently

incorporated to the Lab LARX.

Lab DRX currently has a Panalytical Diffractometer Model X´Pert PRO MPD,

with the accessories: high temperature oven for in-situ measurements,

automatic sample changer and ionization and HR solid-state X-ray detectors.

The X-ray diffractometer was purchased in 2009 within the Public Notice

(Edital) MCT/FINEP/CT-INFRA 01/2006 in a subproject coordinated by Prof. Jair

Scarminio, who has since been the coordinator of Lab LARX.

The Lab DRX was implemented with the proposal to serve, in the form of

service provision, the entire UEL academic community and any others Brazilian

science and technology institutions, as well as industries and companies.

The Executive Report presented here describes in detail the measures and

analysis carried out by Lab DRX from its entry into operation in November 2010

until December 2019. In 2013 the Lab DRX remained inoperative due to

diffractometer malfunctions and repairs, and only three measurements were

made in the period.

Terminology employed in this Report:

- Lab DRX users: every applicant for services provided by the Lab DRX.

- Services: quantifies the number of requests from users and served by Lab DRX. The number of Services is counted by the number of FEAM applied and attended by Lab DRX.

- Measurements: quantify the number of diffractograms provided in response to requests from users. Thus, a single Service can contain several Measurements, that is, diffractograms for different samples.

- Analysis: quantifies the number of analyzes of compositional, structural and other identifications, carried out on the diffractograms provided to users. The analyzes are performed by technicians and researchers from Lab DRX.

- Internal academic community (IAC): teachers, researchers, employees and students of UEL.

- External academic community (EAC): teachers, researchers, employees and students from other teaching and research institutions.

- External community: industries, companies and individuals in general.

- FEAM (Sample Entry Sheet): form presented by the applicant to request a Service, which must be delivered together with the samples (material) to be analyzed. Find and download FEAM at http://larxgestao.wixsite.com/larx-uel.
