Mahe Highlights

Enjoy the exceptional beauty of Mahe on a guided tour with 7°South, and expand your

knowledge about Seychelles whilst exploring the main Island.

Tour Description Experience the highlights of Mahé in one day on our full day tour to explore the island. Stop for Souvenir shopping in Victoria. Visit Morne Seychellois National Park, and admire the spectacular view from the historic ruins of Mission Lodge. Stop and learn more about the Tea Plantation on the slopes of Morne Blanc. Visit quiet corners of south Mahé and time permitting, stop at the craft village and admire craftsman at work at the boats model workshop.

0930hrs Depart from hotel and drive to one of the world’s smallest capital, Victoria!

Enjoy a 30 minutes guided walk around Victoria. Visit of the market, and explore the colorful market of fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and spices. The Clock Tower - build in 1903 to commemorate Queen Victoria, and is the replica of the one on the Vauxhall Bridge road – Victoria, London

Travel to Sans Souci through a vastly dense Morne Seychellois National Park via the Bel-Air Road to visit the Bel-Air Cemetery, the oldest in Seychelles. Buried there is the once tallest and strongest Seychellois (3 meters aprox.) He was named the Giant at that time because he was so strong he could carry pirogues from the beach to the sea by lifting it and he was able to lift a 50kg bag of rice with one hand! Fearing that as he grew he would terrorize the island, he was poisoned. His grave befits his size and is 9ft 6 inch. Visit the Mission Lodge which was then called Venn’s Town and was founded in 1835 by the Church Missionary Society. This was the island’s first school which was built for children of the freed slaves who could not return to their homeland and they could speak neither English nor Creole. They chose this site as it was the cheapest crown land available, at a yearly rental fee of 50 acres for 50 cents at that time! The original painting of Venn’s Town which was painted by British artist who visited Seychelles in 1883, Marion North, hangs in the North Gallery in Kew Gar-den, London. Continue along the picturesque mountain road past thick vegetation – heading to the south-western part of Mahe along some of the beautiful deserted beaches of the island, pass the Baie Lazare district where the first French ship anchored in 1742, under the commander Lazare Picault who named Mahe, Ile D’abondance as they found an abundance of fresh water, fruits, coconuts, fish and birds. Proceed to where the first spice garden was established in 1771 by Pierre Poivre, who was a French Governor at that time. Enjoy a guided tour of the garden which is now owned and maintained by a Seychellois family. Enjoy a typical Creole buffet at the Garden or other local restaurant. Spend the afternoon swimming at Anse Royal beach. After a nice swim, continue to tour the Eastern coast of the island past picturesque villages, deserted creeks, the international airport, before heading back to Mahé quayside to board your ship or back to your hotel.

Full Day Praslin La Digue Excursion by Boat. A boat will take you to Praslin where you will be able to

visit the World Heritage Site of Vallee de Mai, an extraordinary primeval forest, home to some 7,000

Coco de Mer palms and the rare Black Parrot. After a brief ferry ride you reach La Digue, with its

spectacular beaches and granite rocks. You are transported to the copra factory at L'Union and the old vanilla and cinnamon plantation. A typical Creole lunch

awaits at a specially selected restaurant.

Full Day La Digue

Cousin, Curieuse & St. Pierre Tour Description:

Take a guided day trip, first to Cousin Island to see this haven for seabirds and for land birds unique to Seychelles: there are an estimated quarter of a million seabirds breeding each year.

Then take a boat to Curieuse Island, visit the old Doctor’s House turned into a Museum, and the pen for rearing giant land tortoises.

After enjoying the beauty of the mangrove forest and a beach picnic visit picturesque St.Pierre to snorkel or relax. There are no jetties, so be prepared for wet landings!

Tour Description: Depart from Praslin for Aride Island Nature Reserve, one of the finest tropical nature reserves in the world. It is home to more breeding seabirds (about a million) and more seabird species than the other 40 granitic islands combined! There are five land bird unique to Seychelles, plants found nowhere else, plus a most spectacular view at the pinnacle of the nature trail. A barbecue lunch is served on the beach.
