Goucher College is a private and residential four-year liberal arts and sciences college.

We enroll about 1,450 students from more than 40 states and 10 foreign countries.

We offer a first-rate academic program with 30 majors, six interdisciplinary areas, and a faculty to student ratio of 10 to 1.

About 25 percent of Goucher students enroll in graduate or professional school immediately after graduation.

More than 90 percent are employed or in a graduate program within a year of graduation. And as many as 30 percent get a job offer before they even earn their diplomas.

Goucher is more than just a residential college. It’s a living and learning community in which the lines between those two key elements — living and learning — become blurred by design. Many of our residence halls have classrooms built into them. Some of the houses within them are centered on themes that unite their residents around common areas, where you’ll frequently find students coming together to study, hold club meetings, participate in activities, and just enjoy each other’s company. And all over campus — from the academic buildings to the dining halls to the student coffee house and beyond — you’ll hear the buzz and feel the energy of people sharing their ideas and perspectives, their learning, and their lives.

As a Goucher student, you will live on campus in one of Goucher’s residential dormitories on our secure campus. Goucher supplies each student with a bed, desk, chair, and closet/dresser, and each dorm offers several communal living areas (including kitchens) and shared bathrooms. Many residence halls are attached to one of three campus dining facilities. All of Goucher’s residential halls are within a 15-minute walk of the campus’ academic buildings.

Here is wHat we do for fun:Once you are here, you won’t have to go far to find a stellar array of cultural, social, and educational events. Throughout every year, Goucher’s calendar is packed with lectures, readings, and performances by international renowned guests and homegrown talent alike.

And Goucher students are an active lot. There are more than 60 student—run clubs here. There’s an active Student Government Association. Plus, 17 varsity sports teams and several intramural sports clubs, not to mention language clubs, political organizations, music groups, and religious and art organizations.

Across our whole campus, every day, you’ll find people coming together around the interests they share. So, wherever you hail from or plan to go, you will find a way to explore your passions, as well as a community of people interested in what you have to share.

Goucher College is less than hour from Washington, DC, and the Maryland capital city of Annapolis. It’s about an hour’s train ride from Philadelphia. And it’s only about three hours from New York City by car or train.

Just off campus, in the suburban town of Towson, Maryland, you’ll find a major regional mall, an eight-screen movie theater, a concert hall that often hosts major shows by national artists, and all manner of restaurants, shops, and hangout spots.

Just a few miles down the road, the city of Baltimore offers a range of cultural attractions that might surprise the uninitiated — from major sports teams to leading art and history museums, plus pubs, clubs, first-rate cuisine, and all the other things you’d expect to find in a great American city.

Baltimore is also a lively college town, with more than 20 colleges and universities in the area and more than 100,000 college students. Many of them — including Goucher — are connected through the Baltimore Collegetown Network, which coordinates joint educational opportunities among the area’s colleges, offers special events to bring students of different schools together, and runs a shuttle around town just for college students.

What probably stands out most about Goucher is that when you talk here, people will listen. Nearly three-quarters of our classes have 19 or fewer students. Nobody is ever just a face in the lecture hall at Goucher.

Your professors won’t be just faces in the lecture hall, either. You’ll get to know them very well, and while they will certainly push you to live up to Goucher’s high standards, they’ll also give you all the support and personal attention you’ll need to succeed in this demanding academic environment. It’s also not uncommon for students to participate with faculty in projects and research that other students often have to wait until graduate school to begin. In fact, collaboration is kind of the rule at Goucher.
