Tin Forest Creations 1/2K and 2C enjoyed their culminating task of building their own Tin Forests last week, after studying the picture book this term. We planned our design in small groups, utilising the skills of many of our fantastic drawers and discussed the resources we would need to make our designs come alive. We experimented with a few options and sometimes had to start again when things didn't work but we were persistent and our final products are certainly creative and interesting.

Lyrebird Festival Last Wednesday Mr O’Kane, Mr G and myself had the pleasure of accompanying a small group of our Aboriginal dancers to attend the Lyrebird Festival at Briar Road Public School. Deacon. D, Loki. D, Spencer. G, Ryder. V, Kobe. W and Xander. G represented Bradbury Public School. The festival included a number of different school from the Campbelltown region including Claymore P.S, St Helens Park P.S, Woodlands Road P.S, John Warby P.S, and Ambarvale P.S. Uncle Ivan officially opened the festival with a traditional smoking ceremony. This was surrounding an amazing dance floor made of sand. The boys performed 3 Aboriginal dances directed by Mr G to a large audience of students, staff, Department and school executives as well as the wider Aboriginal and Campbelltown community. Mrs Sivell attended the event with a number of very proud Bradbury Parents. The boys demonstrated exemplary behaviour and represented our school with pride! This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage in their culture, learn new dances and network with their community.

Interactive TV As of Tuesday morning, all classrooms have an interactive tv in them to use. Not only are the screens brighter and the sound better, but they come with a few new programs to use with our teaching programs. It has been a long process to get them all and the students will enjoy using them.

Student Leadership Positions for 2020 On Monday, nominated Year Five students will be presenting their speeches to the school for student leadership positions in 2020. All the candidates will have 2 minutes to present their prepared speech as to why they will make a good leader in 2020. Students and teachers will be voting after lunch, with the outcome to be announced at the end of year Presentation Assembly. Good luck to all the candidates. Production 2019: Zombied! Production rehearsals are well underway, and the students have been doing a phenomenal job so far. This year we have

over 90 students participating in the Zombied cast. We would like to give the families of our Year 6 students the best

opportunity to attend the Production. Therefore we have decided offer Afternoon and Evening performances over two

nights (Wednesday 4th & Thursday 5th December).

Wednesday 4th December (Campbelltown Hall Theatre)

o Afternoon performance at 4.00pm

o Evening performance at 7.00pm

Thursday 5th December (Campbelltown Hall Theatre)

o Afternoon performance at 4.00pm

o Evening performance at 7.00pm

This does mean that we will not be offering a Matinee performance. Siblings of participating students will need to attend the Production performances either in the afternoon or evening performances under parent supervision. Tickets for the musical, “Zombied” will be allocated by ballot. We feel this is a fairer system for all. Tickets cost $15 each.

There are no concessions for either performances. Please note that the Request Form, should not be accompanied by

money.

Ticket Request form needs to be returned to school NO LATER THAN MONDAY 18th November 2019. Please note that

due to the large cohort of students participating, EVENING tickets will be sold with a 4 ticket maximum. Families can

indicate if they would like extra tickets and names will be placed on a waiting list. Tickets will be sent home by Monday

2nd December.

A payment note with ticket allocations will be sent home once ballot is completed and payment needs to be received by

no later than Monday 25TH November or these tickets will be offered to another family.

Brain Strain Academic Challenge

Would we stretch our brains? We asked ourselves in preparation for the inaugural Brain Strain Challenge held at Mount Annan Public School on Wednesday, 13th of November 2019. Nineteen schools competed in this brain-stretching challenge. Our school sent four amazing representatives; Isbah A, Nehan R, Chelsea L, Rhys A- we all had a real fun time.

One of the challenges of the competition was the vocabulary challenge, which included amazing anagrams, spectacular spelling and the wonderful word wizard activity. Another challenge of the competition was the awesome Did You Notice?’ challenge, which tested our observation skills through a video, a photograph and an artwork. We performed well in this area. Next, was STEM. We were asked to create a mini Lunar Lander made out of household

materials which would remain intact after testing at 1m, 1.5m and 2m heights. For the Australian trivia we were asked to research Australiana prior to the day. We found some of this section challenging; particularly the Australian poem section, where we needed to replace omitted words. Next, was the Maths Challenge. It was filled with complex problems for us to solve. We were very sure we got everything right! The highlight of the day was the Amazing Race. Teams raced to and from tables to get to the pit stop where we received numerous envelopes containing clues and riddles. Correct answers helped us progress through the race. There were 17 clues and we completed 14 of them. To conclude the event, an award ceremony was held. We were awarded second place, between Harrington Park PS and Campbelltown North PS. We had lots of fun and we thank Miss Starr for organising our participation in this event. “It was a brain straining experience for all of us!” we agreed. Written by Bradbury’s Brain Strain Challenge representatives.

Rapunzel By Menaal

Rapunzel was locked in a tower,

Old Mother Gothel guarded her with power,

A lot of hair Rapunzel had,

And yes it was the latest fad,

Wash, brush, blow and styling,

And no she wasn’t smiling.

One day she had a thought,

And no she wasn’t caught,

She was going to snip away,

And this thought she wasn’t going to relay,

A pile of cut hair grew,

And yes this was very true,

A few hours later she was done,

The pile of hair weighed a tonne,

Then along came a prince on a horse,

Fancy clothes he was wearing of course,

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair,

I have heard you are very fair,

Don’t worry it’s not a big fall.”

“Sorry dude, I cut it all!”
