The search for ecological solutions prior to economic necessity strongly affects the way we function at USM.During the development stages of USM Modular Furniture, questions surrounding the responsible handling of energy, emissions, raw materials, and production methods play a central role from the very beginning.

The useful life expectancy of a product is by far the most important aspect when considering the environment,because it is unavoidable that the energy and resources used for production are closely related to ecologicalcycles with regard to certain life expectancy. The decisive environmental factor in this is the relationship between the required output during production, disposal and the life expectancy of the product. Therefore, the longer a product remains useful, the less is its negative impact on the environment.

The long and useful life of USM Modular Furniture is determined by:

The quality of the materialsA functionally correct selection of the USM materials: Precision steel tubing and shelving; robust, light-fast, solvent-free powdered coatings; exposed structural parts in nearly indestructible high-polished chrome; table surfaces in wood, synthetic resin, glass, and granite which guarantee to minimize wear and tear.

The versatility of the systemUSM Modular Furniture is based on the principal of the open system with a modular assembly. Able to be modified in almost any way desired, it provides a great deal of adaptability to individual needs for organizationand design for both the office and home environments. If requirements change due to an altered spatial situation or desires for use, the furniture can be converted or expanded at any time. The components can be re-used in several cycles of use. Each subsequent use increases the utilization of the materials employed.

The timelessness of its design“Form follows function” is the concept behind the USM product design. The furniture can be ultimately reduced to a simple, clear solution with a transparent design that reveals the function. By doing away with anyform of fashionable trend, a lasting, classic and aesthetic design emerges.

Reverse compatibility in product development Changing needs require continual adjustments to the product range. USM structural components are con -tinuously developed to correspond to the latest state of the art. At the same time, both image as well as all ofthe basic principles are perpetuated consistently. This ensures that each new system piece can be integratedinto existing structures. The advantage: Even USM Modular Furniture built at the beginning of the 60’s is beingused today, because it is timeless and can easily be adapted to the user’s changing needs time and time again.

The search for ecological solutions prior to economic necessity strongly affects the way we function at USM.During the development stages of USM Modular Furniture, questions surrounding the responsible handling of energy, emissions, raw materials, and production methods play a central role from the very beginning.

The useful life expectancy of a product is by far the most important aspect when considering the environment,because it is unavoidable that the energy and resources used for production are closely related to ecologicalcycles with regard to certain life expectancy. The decisive environmental factor in this is the relationship between the required output during production, disposal and the life expectancy of the product. Therefore, the longer a product remains useful, the less is its negative impact on the environment.

The quality of the materialsA functionally correct selection of the USM materials: Precision steel tubing and shelving; robust, light-fast, solvent-free powdered coatings; exposed structural parts in nearly indestructible high-polished chrome; table surfaces in wood, synthetic resin, glass, and granite which guarantee to minimize wear and tear.

The versatility of the systemUSM Modular Furniture is based on the principal of the open system with a modular assembly. Able to be modified in almost any way desired, it provides a great deal of adaptability to individual needs for organizationand design for both the office and home environments. If requirements change due to an altered spatial situation or desires for use, the furniture can be converted or expanded at any time. The components can be re-used in several cycles of use. Each subsequent use increases the utilization of the materials employed.

The timelessness of its design“Form follows function” is the concept behind the USM product design. The furniture can be ultimately reduced to a simple, clear solution with a transparent design that reveals the function. By doing away with anyform of fashionable trend, a lasting, classic and aesthetic design emerges.

Reverse compatibility in product development Changing needs require continual adjustments to the product range. USM structural components are con -tinuously developed to correspond to the latest state of the art. At the same time, both image as well as all ofthe basic principles are perpetuated consistently. This ensures that each new system piece can be integratedinto existing structures. The advantage: Even USM Modular Furniture built at the beginning of the 60’s is beingused today, because it is timeless and can easily be adapted to the user’s changing needs time and time again.
