COMPOSITION: Consider how you are arranging every part of your imagery and background. Plan it out before you begin working on your page. Think about compositional strategies like FRAMING, RULE OF THIRDS, LEADING LINES, SIZE, VIEW, and PLACEMENT.

BACKGROUND: What would make an interesting background that can also give us clues about your story?

• Think about possibly repeating a pattern, object, or shape that might be part of your story• Drawing a scene that recreates the setting of your story• Words filling up the background that might give us clues about the story

COLLAGE COMPONENTS: Images cut from magazines that might help to give clues about your story.

EMPHASIS: Thoughtfully placing artistic emphasis on some areas that are important to your story (make something bigger, brighter, more noticeable, very different)

COLORS: Colors can convey the mood of a situation or how someone may be feeling.

MARKS: Marks can convey the mood of a situation or how someone may be feeling.

TEXT: Using words and font choice, either hand-written or cut from magazines. Consider the size and style of the font and how it works with your imagery. Do you want it in the background? The foreground?
