a message from Apostle Price

January 3, 2012 marked my 80th birthday. I look back over my life and am amazed at wheregod has brought me but grateful to be used by god to share His Word for decades andthroughout the world. I’ve not only been blessed to see 80 years on this on the earth, but I’vebeen able to share the majority of those years with a wonderful woman, my wife Dr. Betty Price.Without her, this journey definitely would not have been as sweet. Continued blessings camein the form of four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Having lived for 80 years has given me a great deal of experiences and insight. There havebeen a number of lessons learned. Chief among them is the fact that I realized that when I waspastor of large and thriving ministry that I could not do it all. I have my place, my call, and myanointing, but I let the greater One do the work. I am always at rest. I could be stressed outright now because of all the things I have to do and all that I am responsible for. I decided earlyon that I refuse to be stressed out. I have delegated authority to others, and they do the workthat they are assigned to do.

I have things that need to be done within a certain time period. But the worst-case scenariois that if it does not get done, it does not get done. I don’t let it burden me. When the timecomes for me to go home, I leave that work there.

When I go home, I am off, and that means I am not going to do any more work. My philos-ophy is this: If I were dead and gone, what would happen to all the work? Somebody else willcome and do it. god gave me a brain so that I could use wisdom; if I don’t preserve me, I’mdead. I am not going to die from stress and overwork. I am going to rest. Take it from me,learning how to NOT do it all is one of life’s greatest lessons.

I’ve also learned that you cannot be successful with god without integri-ty (which is also the theme of this issue of Ever Increasing Faith Magazine). Many Christians relate integrity and ethics only to those in leadership. Butevery born-again Believer should be a person of integrity and ethics.

We, as Christians, are called in Matthew 5:8 to be pure in heart, which implies an undivided focus in following god's rule. It calls forno compromise, deviation or avoidance of the price tag that mayhave to be paid to stand for what we know to be right. We are also

told in Proverbs 11:3: “The integrity of theupright will guide them, but the perver-sity of the unfaithful will destroy them.”

elcome to EverIncreasing Faith.Remember these

words from the book of Romanschapter 10 verse 17, ‘So then faithcomes by hearing and hearing by theWord of god.’ Praise god for anotherday and for another privilege and opportuni-ty to share with you, theLiving Word of god.”We know these wordsall too well as this warmwelcome for the EverIncreasing Faith broadcast has rung throughthe ears of countless viewers over the years.Whether vacating internationally, going off tocollege in another state, or living locally inSouthern California, the godfather of Faithhas made it possible for people from all walksof life to receive the Word of god through hisvarious broadcasts, books and speakingengagements. With more than 55 years of min-istry under hisbelt, ApostleFrederick K.C.Price, the manbehind the min-istry, is stillgoing strong—even at 80 yearsold.

After receiv-ing Jesus Christ as his personal Lord andSavior, shortly after marrying his wife Betty,Apostle Price received his calling to become aminister of the gospel. He then became anassistant pastor at a Baptist church but wasn’tgiven much leeway to do what he knew he wascalled to do. The few times he was able toteach the people, he found they had reallyenjoyed him. This wasn’t well received by thepastor of the church and as a result,Apostle Price was let go. Over thenext few years, Apostle Pricestayed faithful to his calling andserved several churches of dif-ferent denominations untilhe was given his biggestopportunity yet.

In 1965, Apostle Pricebecame the pastor of West

Washington Community Churcha part of the Christian and

Missionary Alliance to 9 members. After 4 years of staying committed

to his ministry, his congregation grewto 130 members but he sensed some-

thing was missing. He was then givenbooks on the Holy Spirit at a Katherine

Kuhlman meeting afterbeing introduced to theHoly Spirit for the first time.He did his research, andbecame filled with the Holy

Spirit with evidence of speaking in othertongues; this transformed his life forever. Heintroduced the Holy Spirit to his congrega-tion, and watched his members grow from 130to 300. His church became independent fromthe Christian and Missionary Alliance asApostle Price said god told him he wouldform an independent-dependent work, inde-pendent of man and dependent on god.

Apostle Price moved WestWashington Community Church, to a 1,400seat sanctuary in Inglewood, California andchanged the name to Crenshaw ChristianCenter (CCC). When Apostle Price was hold-ing several services a day with people still linedup outside eager to enter, he knew it was timeto move into a bigger sanctuary. As evidence ofhis faith message, six years after moving into

the beautiful 32-acre PepperdineUniversity campus located in

South Los Angeles, the $24million property andFaithdome was completelypaid off.

More recently, ApostlePrice has become presidingprelate of the ministry, allow-ing his son Frederick K. Price

to fulfill his calling as the current pastor ofCCC. Pastor Fred admires his father not onlyfor his amazing ministry, but for being anamazing father and husband.

“He’s been married over 50 years, and hehas never abused my mom. He fully supportsher, pampers her, supplies all her needs, andloves on her. He is concerned about her well-being, he prays for her, gives to her so that shecan give to others. The bottom line, he keepsmama happy,” Pastor Price says admiringly.Speaking of quality time with his father,Pastor Price recalls talking with his dad one onone, watching movies all of the time and learn-ing from him. He recognizes that his father’schildhood was not the best but notices that hemade the choice to “be the best dad that a mancould be.”

Apostle Price has not only been a rolemodel to his congregation members and view-ers but also has had a positive influence onleaders of other ministries. Marilyn Hickey,Founder and President of Marilyn HickeyMinistries speaks ofApostle Price saying,“He teaches aboutfaith line upon line, precept upon pre-cept. He is as good asanyone showing oth-ers how to utilizefaith in their lives. He

encourages me and millions of others to standstrong in their faith and make this messagework.” Bishop Wiley Jackson of gospelTabernacle in Atlanta, georgia and faithfulFellowship of International Word of FaithMinistries (FICWFM) member speaks ofApostle Price and his ministry saying, god hasgiven us such an Apostle. One who hasreceived his revelation through a vision (ofhow to walk by faith, not by sight.) Fifty yearsago, who could Dr. Price look at and get avision of Crenshaw Christian Center as far asprosperity is concerned? Where could he turnto model himself? … god gifted a man with amessage that would free all of us. I really don’tknow of any other African-AmericanCharismatic ministry (like CCC).”

With his 80th birthday celebrations, view-ers and congregants of Ever Increasing FaithMinistries and CCC were given the opportu-nity to recognize the effects that god has hadon their lives through Apostle Frederick K.C.Price. As a pastor, apostle, father, husbandand mentor, Apostle Price has achieved manyremarkable accomplishments through his life-time. He was celebrated with a gala dinnercomplete with family, friends and well-wisherssuch as Bishop and Mrs. Charles A. f there’s anyone who knows that god is stillin the business of making miracles happen,it’s Dr. Nasir Siddiki, the founder ofWisdom Ministries in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Born and bred a Muslim in Canada, he didn’tlive a life based on believing miracles or in thesaving grace of Jesus Christ.

“As a Muslim, you don’t know Allah as aSavior,” he explains. “If you ask a Muslim if theyare going to heaven, they will always answer thisway: “I hope so.” Their qualification for heaven isalways based on good works as opposed to badworks. So if your good works exceed your badworks you go to heaven, if they don’t you’re notgoing to go heaven. They don’t believe that Allahis the one that prospers. They believe the timehere is just a temporary situation so that they can

go on to their definition of heaven. Does an aver-age Muslim want to prosper? Yes. Does the aver-age Muslim turn to Allah to prosper? No.”

Though Siddiki didn’t pray for prosperity orriches, he had them by the time he was in his 30sworking as wealthy marketing executive. Thiswas before a life-threatening bout with shinglesin 1987, at the age of thirty-four, turned his lifearound. What started out as blisters, soon turnedinto shingles and chicken pox and a 107.6 degreefever. According to doctors, Siddiki was dying.

In an interview from his ministry magazineWinning With Widsom, Siddiki recounts.“During the darkest hour of the night, I wokeand saw a man at the foot of my bed. Rays of lightemanated from him, allowing me to see his out-line. I couldn’t see his face, it was too bright. Noone had to tell me, I knew it was Jesus.”

The next morning, the blisters were gone andthe shingles went into remission. Siddiki wassent home the following day. While at home,Siddiki was flipping through channels and ranacross a ministry program. Before it was over, hewas praying to invite Jesus into his heart.

Not only had Siddiki received the miracle ofhealing, but the miracle of a new life in JesusChrist.

“When I asked Jesus into myheart, He resuscitated my spirit with the breathof His life. He took all my sorrows and carriedmy pain,” said Siddiki. “He washed away my sinsand cleansed me with the blood spilled onCalvary. He recreated me.

“That’s why today I no longer work in thebusiness that could make me millions. Instead, like Jesus, I am about my Father’s business.”

Siddiki has prayed for miracle after miracleand seen them com true. His entire immediatefamily healed of various life-threatening ailments.Every single one is now healthy, happy and pros-pering.

And it is the message of prosperity thatSiddiki has taken to heart and has made his busi-

ness to preach and teach.“The Bible is a 24-7 book,” notes

Siddiki. “It says I can prosper in mymarriage, with my kids, in myhealth, in my job and in my business.I can prosper in every area of my life

because Jesus came to give me life more abun-dantly. Not only are we supposed to prosper inevery area of our lives, based on [the Bible], ittells us how to prosper whereas the Koran does-n’t even refer to Allah wanting us to prosper.”

Siddiki adds that prosperity is a subject thatis necessary to teach to god’s people.

“This prosperity message is critical. Drugdealers are not going to fund the gospel. We’vegot to have prosperity. We can no longer beafraid of prosperity. It’s like the carpenter beingafraid of having too manytools. They’re just tools toget a job accomplished.Money is just a tool to geta job accomplished. We’vegot to stop being afraid ofit. god never asks us to funda vision, He simply asks us tobelieve for it. He’ll fund thevision. We just have to believe. For what He needs todo, He needs youto do yourpart.”— EIF

health & healing

‘m no medical scholar, but I do know thereis very little known about the prostate—thevery small, albeit important male reproduc-

tive gland. In fact, so lit-tle is known about

the prostatethat many

don’t evenknow howto pro-nounce it.It’s pro-

n o u n c e dp r o s t a t e ,

( P R ASTATE) not

prostrate, which is theposition you assume when you lie down.

But, as little as we do know about this gland, itserves a very important function. Its job is to pro-vide the fluid that transports sperm out of malesand into their loving wives. (At least that’swhat it is designed to do.) Needless to say,the prostate gets a workout. Sometimesit also gets attacked by cancer cells. When it does, it has a tendency toswell. The swelling is basically unde-tectable. It often shows up in the formof an interrupted urine stream when aman relieves himself. This interruptioncan include sporadic dripping, some painor discomfort or frequent urination.

When this happens, your body is talking to youin the best way it can. It’s saying: go to the doctorand find out what’s happening. A wise man willhave already been to the doctor for regular check-ups long before the prostate starts acting up. Bydoing so, the doctor can detect the enlarging ofthe prostate through a digital examination, usinga gloved finger and by a simple blood test.

Therein lies the rub (pardon the pun.) Somemen feel it’s an insult to their masculinity for a

doctor (especially another man)to run a finger up his rectum.

Unfortunately, cemeteriesall over the world are filledwith such guys. If you stillhave a problem with the

procedure, get a PSAblood test. Don’t allow

yourself to sufferan agonizing, long, painfuldeath. PSA is:Prostate spe-cific antigen, aprotein pres-ent in men's blood that isused to screen for prostate cancer.

If an enlarged prostate is detected, the doctor then recommends a furthertest be done called a biopsy. This is anoutpatient procedure done right in thedoctor’s office. The doctor anally injects ananesthesia to deaden the prostate—similar towhat the dentist does prior to working on yourteeth. It’s pretty painless.

A small snipping device is used to extract verysmall samples of the prostate, from various loca-tions around it. The samples are then sent to a labfor study. The lab in turn will examine the speci-mens and make a determination as to whether thesample is benign or malignant. Wikipedia defines

benign as: A mild and non-progressive dis-ease. It further defines malignant as: a

corresponding medical term used todescribe a severe and progressivelyworsening disease.

In my case, I did all that I wassupposed to do including visitingmy urologist annually, however

one day he detected some swellingand a change in my PSA levels. We

agreed to do a biopsy and the tests werenegative. Because of my elevated PSA, it was rec-ommended I see the urologist every six monthsinstead of annually. I did this over the next fewyears.

One day, the biopsy came back positive forprostate cancer. Can you imagine my shock anddisbelief when I heard the news? I thought thedoctor was on drugs. (Whether or not he was,had nothing to do with the diagnosis.) Afterexplaining that this was a fairly common occur-rence, especially in African-American males myage, he proceeded to educate me in what myoptions were.

He went so far as to suggest we just monitorthe progress of the cancer and see how aggressiveit was. Needless to say, I wasn’t interested inmonitoring anything but a second opinion. This Idid and unfortunately, it confirmed the original

findings.I was in my late 50s. I lived a good Christian

life. I believed god for my healing, my health andmy welfare. How did this happen? It didn’t takeme long to decide that if my faith wasn’t up to thetask of preventing the cancer in the first place, thelast thing I was going to do was to try to use myfaith to get rid of the cancer. If I had weak faith, Ihad to deal with it, but I wasn’t going to let it killme.

My wife and I agreed, we weren’t going towatch and wait and see what the cancer was goingto do, it had to go. I made arrangements to havewhat is called a robotic prostatectomy. That is arobotic surgical procedure that physically removesthe entire prostate—cancer and all. Sorry sperm, ithad to go.

The surgical procedure is done through smallincisions in the lower abdomen. Being a littleoverweight, the urologist recommended I lose afew pounds to make his job easier. He went so faras to recommend I use the services of a trainer tosee that I lost at least 15 pounds.

I hired a trainer for both my wife and I and we

both lost weight by my surgery date. The surgerywas uneventful and successful, thanks be to god.Total hospital time was three days. Home recov-ery time was three to four weeks.

The aftermath is that my internal plumbing hasbeen switched around. I’ve had to learn to do thethings I’ve been doing all my life, a different way. Now, you may wonder: if the gland that makessperm is missing, what does that do to your sexlife? Well, let me assure you, all’s well. Mrs. Evansis happy and not just in the fact I’m still alive, which is a plus. To god be the glory.

Bottom line: exercise your faith now on the lit-tle things. When you hear you’ve got a terminaldisease, it’s a little late to start though not impos-sible, but why wait? Start now. Stop smoking, stop drinking, exercise, eat more live foods likefruits and vegetables and less red meat, bread, pasta, rice and potatoes. I didn’t say don’t eatthem, but eat more of the live foods. See the doc-tor regularly, do what he or she says and you’ll liveand not die.

Remember, take care of your prostate and youwon’t end up prostrate.—EIF

power of faith testimony

vidence, evidence what does yourlife say? As the introduction to theEver Increasing Faith televisionbroadcast was heard for the first

time by Rosie grier, he made a sudden evalua-tion of his life. By that time, grier had been afootball star, an actor, a singer, was body guardfor the late Robert Kennedy guarding his wifeEthel Kennedy, and had been doing extensivecommunity work to get the answer of whogod is to many young gangsters on the streets. With an amazing list of accomplishments, grier still did not feel that his life had shownenough “evidence.”

grier began searching for the answer.Raised a Baptist, he admits he was not well-versed in the Bible. “They didn’t teach theBible they would just get up and preach” hesays reminiscently, “They didn’t teach us any-thing about being born again; I didn’t knowanything about the Holy Spirit all I knew wasthere was god and there was Jesus and I did-n’t know how they worked together.” Becauseof his upbringing, grier knew god was theanswer to a young man he’d been working withwho began questioning what was right andwhat was wrong. “In our search, we had tofind out who was right and who was wrong.[The young man] was explaining to me, thatwhat is right today would be wrong tomorrowif they changed the law. And that’s how wecame up with god.” He knew that if god wastruly god then they could depend totally onhim for all of their needs. Though he had foundone answer, a second question still lurked inhis mind, where did god come from?

Continuing on his search, grier cameacross a nun while visiting Jackie Kennedy anddecided to inquire about their beliefs of wheregod came from. “Of course they said what they

thought, but it didn’t meet the craving in myheart for an answer,” he says. Upon returningto his home in Los Angeles, he heard some-thing tell him to call his mother. He ended upreceiving the answer he had been seeking.“Without a beat she said ‘god is, He was andHe always will be’ it satisfied me to theutmost,” grier says. He shared it with hisfriends but unfortunately, the answer was notas well-received. Soon after grier’s personaldiscovery, the young man he was working withwas killed. “I felt very badly about that and Idecided that I must now make sure that allother young people that I met along the waywould know the answer to what they are seek-ing in life. People are seeking answers that theycan trust in.” grier then committed his life tocommunity work helping young people whohad given their lives to the streets. He still car-ries out this commitment today.

Due to his Baptist upbringing, grier was-n’t accustomed to ministers teaching the Wordof god using the Bible. While attending col-lege at Penn State, he veered away fromchurch. He remembers attending a few biblestudies on campus where the bible was used, “Ialways thought, these guys can’t preach, they’retalking.” It was after he was introduced toFrederick K.C Price’s ministry that he had acomplete change of heart. He rememberswatching the television broadcast for the firsttime “Evidence, evidence, does your life showenough evidence,” he sings, “Man that struck

me right in my heart, and I started thinkingabout all of the good things god has done andall the stuff I had done and it didn’t seem to besufficient and I was falling short of this evi-dence.” He began watching the televisionbroadcast weekly with his young son, but oneSunday it all changed when his son asked if theycould attend a CCC Sunday service. “When Iwent to CCC, Apostle Price was Pastor Pricethen and he was teaching the Bible. I got aBible and as I was following him in the Bible, Ibecame convinced that I needed Jesus in mylife.”

After fully giving his life to Christ andbecoming a minister in 1983, grierfaced what he called his biggest disap-pointment. While at Oral RobertsUniversity with many anointed individ-uals such as Apostle Price, KennethCopeland and John Osteen, grier wasonce again forced to evaluate his life.“They were all talking about what godwas doing in their lives and I’m sittingthere like a little tiny baby and sudden-

ly I’m nowhere near where they are.” He remem-bers his conversation with god after he hadreturned home, “I said ‘Lord I can’t be like thesemen and I don’t know how I can be a Christianand be like those men’.” But it wasn’t longbefore god answered him, “It was at about 4amand god was saying to me ‘I don’t want you tobe like them, I want you to be yourself, I wantyou to be able to smile and act and laugh and doall that you do, except now you know who I am.’It was then my feet were solidly on the groundand I realized I didn’t have to be like them, all Ihad to be was like me and that’s what godwanted me to be.”

To become the confident man ofgod he is today, grier crossed manydifficult obstacles to ultimately find histrue answer. Through seeking godfirst, he became satisfied with himselfand now knows without a doubt thathis life shows enough evidence.

He adds to all readers: “I want youto know that you are precious, valuable, unique and one of a kind, there is noone in the world like you. You are notwho anyone else says you are, you are

who you are becausethat’s who god

says you are. Youdon’t have to seekfor someone elseto complimentyour life; you

oming from a rather large family, myparents had the uncanny knack ofknowing just how to motivate uskids to do what we didn’t always

want to do, but needed to do. They alsoseemed to know just what the proper rewardwas for each of us kids, individually. (Therewere 10 of us, of which I was the youngest.)However, no matter what reward was prom-ised to us for that outstanding report card orthe superlative performance we gave for theschool concert, we knew that if a reward waspromised, it was as good as done. Integritywas something that was both “taught andcaught” in our household. I remember as a 6year old, my dad promised me that if I wasgood at school he would fix me one of thosedelicious bologna sandwiches on a hardKaiser roll with mayonnaise that he liked. Iguess the excitement of getting a chance to eata sandwich “just like daddy ate” proved to toomuch for me because my conduct in schoolthat day was less than stellar.

After hearing of my conduct, my fatherapplied the rod of correction to my “seat oflearning.” After being reprimanded for myactions, I was sent up to my room with no din-ner. Aside from being hungry, embarrassedand unable to sit, I was also disappointed.I had not received what my father hadpromised me: a bologna sandwich on ahard Kaiser roll with mayonnaise. Ihad never known my father to not do

something he hadpromised me—never. As I sat there confusedand hurt, I eventuallydozed off. After sleep-ing for little over anhour, I was awakenedby the sound of myfather’s footsteps as hecame down the hall. Not sure if he was com-ing to give me anotherdose of correction, Iplayed like I was

asleep. As he entered my room, he turned thelight on and called my name. “Mark, wake up,”he ordered. I sat up on the bed. “Yes sir?” Ireplied. “You know why I punished you don’tyou, son?” he inquired. “Yes Daddy, I do,” Isaid. “Because I was being a class clown inschool,” I continued. He looked at me andsaid, “Yes my son, that’s true, but it goes deep-er than that. When you promised me thismorning that you would behave and follow theinstructions of your teacher, you gave me yourword,” he said. “You didn’t keep that promiseto me and your word is your bond, son. Youare to always keep your word.” “Do you under-stand what I’m saying, son?” he asked. “Yes,” Isaid. And without another word spoken, he

reached into the left pocket of his bathrobeand pulled out a napkin with a hard Kaiser

roll with 2 pieces of bologna between it.

Then from his right bathrobe pocket, he pulledout a small jar of mayonnaise and a butter knifeand fixed me that sandwich he’d promised me.That was one of the greatest lessons of integri-ty and promise-keeping that I would ever learn.

The integrity of god’s Word is just

like that, only greater. The good news

about our Heavenly Father is:

because He is…He will.

Matthew, 7:9-11 says: “Or what man is thereamong you who, if his son asks for bread, willgive him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will hegive him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is inheaven give good things to those who askHim.”

If our own natural fathers’ intent is to do usgood and not harm by keeping their word tous, how much more will our Heavenly Fatherhasten to perform His word! (Jeremiah 1:12)Hebrews 6:13 tells us: “For when god madepromise to Abraham, because he could swearby no greater, he swore by himself.” This isproof positive that god is indeed FAITH-FUL to His Word.

In the church circles I came up in, it was notuncommon to get up on Sunday mornings, doall of the preparation for the church service, show up and then subconsciously cross our fin-gers at the prospect of god actually showing

up! It was if there was some great bowl ofSkittles that god dipped His hand in everySunday morning; throwing a handful over theportal of Heaven saying, “Whatever churchthese Skittles land in, that’s where I will showup today.” How foolish a notion is that? For usto enter god’s gates with thanksgiving in ourhearts and enter into His courts with praiseand not expect Him to be there would appearto be just as foolish.

As we go about our day, we take the word ofman as truth. If someone tells you they will dosomething, you most likely trust that word. But do we take god at His word when Hesays, “For where two or three are gatheredtogether in my name, there am I in the midst ofthem? (Matthew 18:20) Beloved, according toPsalm 22:3, god inhabits the praises of Hispeople.

The definition of inhabit: to be present in oroccupy in any manner or form. If god inhabitsour praise and worship time, then He is indeedpresent and accounted for and in the midst.gone are the days of thinking that we have tosing, “Come by here good Lord, come byhere!” We know that if god said He will showup as we worship Him, then He will do it. Afew years ago, I set my personal praise andworship time for 6:00 a.m. As most new rou-tines go, I mastered it for 3 days. On the 4thday, somewhere around lunchtime, I felt a tug-ging in my heart. Then, I had a vision of godstanding with His back up against a wall with

one foot propped up, looking at a watch. Iinstantly knew where this was headed. In myspirit, I heard these words: “Where were youson?” Because I had given my word to god thatI would be there at 6:00 a.m., He expected me.His word and integrity are intact and Heexpects ours to be as well. This is clearly a traitthat I admire about Apostle Frederick K.C.Price. This god-nature of integrity is a bench-mark of his character and life in Christ.

That encounter not only taught me about thereliability of god, but it also reminded me thatgod loves our company and enjoys the fellow-ship time we share with Him in worship. It alsobrings to mind a beautiful song written fromgod’s perspective, “I Miss My Time With You”.(Made popular by Christian recording artists,Larnelle Harris and Helen Baylor):

“There He was just waitingIn our old familiar placeAn empty spot beside HimWhere once I used to wait

To be filled with strength and wisdomFor the battle of the dayI would've passed Him by againBut I clearly heard Him say

I miss My time with youThose moments togetherI need to be with you each dayAnd it hurts me when you sayYou're too busy, busy trying to serve MeBut how can you serve MeWhen your spirit's empty? There's a longing in My heartWanting more than just a part of youIt's true,I miss My time with you.”

Let’s remember that as we honor and rever-ence god in all areas of our lives, we cannot for-get that He is faithful to the promise that Hispresence will abide, if we simply come. As weseek His face, He is here in this place! He prom-ised us He’d be here… And He is faithful thatpromised. —EIF

o me, the greatest thing in living theChristian life is that we learn whatgod says in His word and are obedientto do it and give of ourselves. This isreally what it means to serve the Lord,

and serving the Lord is the very best kind of lifewe can live. Psalm 35:27 assures us that our heav-enly Father “has pleasure in the prosperity of Hisservant.” In this Scripture, prosperity means morethan just money. It includes peace, health, favor, safety, rest, welfare and being made whole. So ifwe want all the good that the Lord has for us, thenwe need to be about the Lord’s business.

Serving the Lord is a matter of our will. Wehave to will to know what god says about all thedifferent areas of our lives and the different thingsthat matter in this life. But just knowing god’sWord is not enough. We also have to will to dowhat god says. In other words, the Lord is notgoing to make us do anything. We have to exerciseour own free will to grow in the things of god bylearning and doing His Word—then the Lord canreally use us as His examples. Since what we showand have to give to others is rooted and groundedin Him, it will be the very best.

Being an example or a witness for the Lord isthe way that we begin serving Him, and this takesmaking our commitment to Christ a lifestyle. It isvery important that we are living right in ourhomes, in our marriages, in raising our children,on our jobs, and even in being givers and in receiv-ing from god. Otherwise, we cannot tell otherpeople how to have a peaceful, wonderful home, how to have a good marriage, how to raise godlychildren or how to receive from god without ourwords being empty. If we want to serve by bring-ing others to Jesus, we have to beliving examples of what god saysin all areas of our lives and wehave to be determinednot to do or sayanything thatwould bringr e p r o a c hon Hisname.

Fred and I have seen this in our own lives. Myhusband was in the ministry for years, but no oneever wanted our advice before we got into god’sWord and applied it so that we prospered in thethings of god. We had to prove the Word of godin our lives before we could share it effectivelywith others. Our ability to be used by goddepended upon our obedience—our willingnessto do what He says in His Word in every area ofour lives every day. People think this is so difficult, but it really is just a matter of dying to our fleshand making up our minds that we are going to dowhat god’s Word says, no matter what.

Serving the Lord also takes a willingness toendure persecution. Jesus said that the enemycomes to steal, kill and to destroy (John 10:10). Hewill try to steal our desire to serve, kill our commit-ment to god’s Word and destroy our witness. That is why we cannot allow ourselves to take oureyes off the Word of god and become discour-aged and depressed by what we see. We cannotallow our feelings to get hurt or stop giving ourbest when the very people we are trying to helpturn against us.

If we are really serving the Lord, why wouldwe be concerned what others think or say or do totry to hurt us, as long as we are pleasing Him?Jesus is our example and he suffered a lot ofthings. Yet, He never quit on us. So, as His exam-ples, we know that we will also suffer a lot ofthings. But because Jesus has gone through it all,we know that we already have the victory in Him.Keeping our witness in the midst of persecution isgoing to take having the goodness and assuranceof god’s Word always before us. When others areacting ugly, we have to meditate on what theSpirit of the Lord tells us through the apostlePaul in Romans 8:31: “If god is for us, who can be

against us?There is a place in god

where we can rise aboveit all, and that place

is in His Word.That is

why wec a n

afford to take our eyes off the Word. We arenever without hope when we are seeking to liveaccording to what god says. I don’t care whatwe face. My husband and I have faced it all—sickness, lack, poverty and even unfaithfulness inthose we have tried to help. But we did not allowourselves to get discouraged and give up. Wedid not let our feelings get hurt and not go ongiving our best. We never quit—and neithershould you. My husband and I have been able togo through it all and rise to the top to enjoy thevery best life because we’ve remained committedto living and serving god’s people, according toHis Word.

Serving the Lord also takes a willingness togive of ourselves. In John 12:25-26, Jesus said,“He who loves his life will lose it, and he whohates his life in this world will keep it for eternallife.” This does not mean that we should ourlives, but that we should not love ourselvesabove doing what Jesus would have for us to do.We should not love the pleasures of this life and

seek them above seeking to do the will of theLord. The way we lose our live is by our givingof ourselves and our time in serving others, andwhat we give is so little compared to what comesback to us.

Living a life committed to learning anddoing things god’s way, and giving of ourselvesand keeping our witness despite persecution, isreally the basis of serving the Lord, whether weare called to the ministry or not. Serving god isthe very best life we can live and it is for everyChristian. Living the Christian life is so veryexciting because we know that no matter whatmay try to come against us, we cannot lose aslong as we are living right before the Lord. godalways protects His own and He watches overHis Word to perform it. He has promised usthat He will never leave us nor forsake us.

King David said it like this in Psalm 37:25: “Ihave been young, and now am old; yet I have notseen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendantsbegging bread.” —EIF

straight talk

Unless otherwise indicated, Scripture quo-tations mentioned above are taken fromthe New King James Version of the Bible.

Do you have a question on your mind?

Write to us at: Ever Increasing Faith Magazine, P.O. Box 44185, Los Angeles, CA 90009 or e-mail [email protected].

Apostle Price and Dr. Betty, I’ve often heard you teach that atBelievers we must bring ourselves in line with God's Word? Whatexactly does that mean and how do we do that?

We must recognize that Satan constantlybrings temptation, because he is waging war tokeep us in bondage. To break that bondage, wehave to see ourselves as god sees us according toHis Word. god sees us as the righteousness ofChrist. He views us as more than conquerors. That means that through Him we have con-quered disease, poverty, fear and strife. So wemust see ourselves exactly that way.

Once we see ourselves according to god'sWord, Satan can no longer whip us, or defeat us.But even when we are speaking the Word, wehave to keep our eyes on the flesh. Paul had to dis-cipline his body, and he was always speakinggod's Word.

He writes in 1st Corinthians 9:27: “But I disci-pline my body and bring it into subjection, lest,

when I have preached to others, I myself shouldbecome disqualified.” Discipline takes time andeffort. It is an every-hour, every-minute, every-sec-ond job to ward off the temptations of the evil one.

In Romans 6:6, Paul says: “Knowing this, thatour old man was crucified with Him, that thebody of sin might be done away with, that weshould no longer be slaves of sin.” god's revela-tion to Paul was this: He did not say we would nolonger be slaves of sin. It says we should no longerbe slaves of sin. That tells us that being enslavedby sin is our choice. Acting as if our members aredead is the only way the sinful nature will not con-trol us, because we were born with that sinfulnature. It is a part of us, except where and whenChrist rules. When we realize our members arevery much alive, faith, then, is the only way we canmake the sin nature come under subjection togod's Word.

heart of the matter

urrently, we live in a macho socie-ty where men are manning up oneverything but what's right. When

I say man-up, I mean it in a way that doesn'tinvolve pounding your chest and using loud, aggressive gestures. Behavior like this is defi-nitely beneficial for athletic activities, but notwhen it comes to drinking, smoking, stealing,

cheating, lying, cursing, lust-ing, and conquering hun-dreds of women etc. Theseare all examples of what man-ning up encompasses nowa-days.

If we truly examine whatthese examples mean to us,we can get a sense of insecu-rity or even immaturity. Itcould even stem fromthe large amounts ofyoung men whogrow up in today'ssociety without afather. A fathersteers his son in

the right direction; he wants his son to be bet-ter, smarter, wiser, and stronger than him. Afather takes on full responsibility when raisinghis children, especially his son because he takespride in being a part of his son’s life. A dad, onthe other hand, is someone who just "pro-duced" the child and didn't assume responsibil-ity in raising the child.

I wrote this article upon request from afriend whom I greatly appreciate and look upto. After sharing with him and his lovely wifeabout my experiences with sex and other bat-tles throughout my 24 years, I also shared withthem a vision I have for a billboard I want toread "Man Up go Without."

The "Man Up go Without" billboard ideawas developed one evening while riding mybike down Sunset Boulevard. I kept seeingthese HIV/STD billboards all over. Those adsare very beneficial but they’re still missing onething. These ads encourage the practice of safe

sex, and howto be respon-sible with ourbodies, butthey don't tellyou how con-traception ist e m p o r a r yprotection. I

don't disapprove of these ads because if itwasn't for condoms or any other form of

contraception, who knows what I wouldhave right now.

I conceptualized the idea for thisbillboard because my friends, colleagues

and associates, have gone through times intheir lives where they’ve wanted to quit

smoking, drinking, cursing, lying, for-nicating and masturbating; but

couldn’t seem to follow through.Once I decided to walk

uprightly, I realized howgood it feels to live a

pure lifestyle. I justhad to share it with

others. So I began to challenge my friends, majority males, to make a “Man Up goWithout” pledge. I told them if that thing real-ly doesn't have a hold on your life, then go with-out it. Prove to yourself and others that you canstop whatever activity or enjoyment wheneveryou want to. I also encouraged them to NOTworry about how long they could refrain fromtheir old activities. I didn't want them to worryabout when, or if they would ever fall back intotheir old habits, I just wanted them to make thecommitment. I knew that once they started liv-ing right their old ways would slowly but surelybegin to deteriorate and lose its once so power-ful hold over their lives.

It takes a real man to do theright thing, because anybody can dowrong. It's in our nature to naturallydo wrong because we live in a sinfulworld. When we live Christ like andwithout compromise, we are trulyone-of-a-kind.

When it comes to meeting yoursoul mate, I can be the first to say that it won'tcome by sleeping around with multiple sexpartners. We have to sacrifice lust for love.Love doesn't come from sexual pleasures, quickflings, or random hookups. Love has sub-stance. Love is kind and gentle. Love undoubt-edly comes from god. Until we truly under-stand this, we will continuously come up emptyon true love. There will always be something

missing, and that something is god. My fatherhas always said, “what you’re willing to walkaway from, will determine what you walk into.”If I'm willing to walk away from the lustfulnights and random girls, god will reveal to memy future wife because of my obedience. Ihaven't met her yet, but that's what I'm stickingto.

I can honestly say that being single andwalking upright is a challenge. The enemy willtempt you and if you’re not grounded in theWord, you can quickly lose sight of your goalsand purpose. Satan wants you to compromise

your beliefs. Integrity speaks vol-umes about a person and is simplydescribed as making the choicebetween what’s convenient andwhat’s right.

We need men with courageoushearts who take god seriously. Weneed a new generation of men whowill challenge each other in everyway possible. Do you remember

how powerful the Million Man March was?Think if that was a million men of god whocame together to inspire our nation of men toman up.

I believe “Man Up go Without” is going tobe a calling for all men to lead others to be thetrue men of god they are intended to be. 1Timothy 6:11 states, "But you, O Man of god

flee these things andpursue righteous-ness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness." I'mcalling all men, young and old, tostep up to the chal-lenge and man up.—EIF

“But you, O Man of god flee things

and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith,

love, and gentleness.”
