Atom feeds

An Atom feed is a web feed that consists of metadata about the feed, such as the title of the feed, when it was published, an identifier for the feed, and other details. In Banner General Event Management 9.0 Self-Service, three different feed implementations are provided.

• thisMonth – this feed will list all of the applicable Events for the present month. The listing of Events in the feed is same as the listing of Events on the self-service list page for the present month.

• allEvents – this feed will list all of the events which are applicable as of the present day. The listing of Events in the feed is same as the listing of Events on the self-service list page for all months.

• search – this feed allows search parameters to be passed and based on the search results, the appropriate events will be listed. The search functionality that is available for the self-service application is reused to perform the search.

For more information on Atom feeds, please refer to the Banner General Event Management 9.0 Handbook.

In Banner General Event Management 9.0, you may add a Like button that allows a user to share their like on a particular event with their friends on Facebook. A user can optionally add the comments to the liked content and post this information on their Facebook wall.

Each institution has the ability to customize the post that appears on Facebook walls by adding images and customizing the title content that will appear on the page.

For more information on the Facebook “Like” feature, please refer to the Banner General Event Management 9.0 Handbook.

Email

Sending email from Banner Event Management can be achieved by extracting data from Event Management pages using the Data Extract feature and using mail merge features in popular office tools like Microsoft Word, Outlook etc.

Mail merge is ideal for creating personalized letters or labels instead of editing the original letter multiple times to input different personalized information. Mail merge allows you to place content from a spreadsheet, database, or table into a Microsoft Word document.

For more information on sending emails from Banner General Event Management, please refer to the Banner General Event Management 9.0 Handbook.

3 Known Issues

This section discusses the known issues for Banner General Event Management 9.0.

Pages

Known issues affect the following pages and page features:

Event (SLAEVNT)

The following issues exist with the Event (SLAEVNT) page.

• The two column form layout gets distorted and changed into a single column by any lookup that returns long values for selected code in the first column.

• The processing spinner image is not always displayed, giving a false indication that the application is not performing any action.

• The required field indicator (*) appears below the column title in child blocks with a grid display.

• If the selected ID is marked as “deceased” for the Contact ID, the warning message for the field does not get highlighted in red.

• The Contact and Phone fields do not properly support data masking. If one of the contact fields is set to not display, both fields will be hidden. Similarly, if one of the Phone fields is set to not display, all of phone fields will be hidden.

• When attempting to delete an event which has ceremony data, clicking Save will return a “Save was successful” message, but the data will not be deleted.

• The short cut key (Shift +F10) does not always work.

Function Participants (GEAPART)

The Function Participants (GEAPART) page gets distorted, with the ID column getting expanded in the grid when the ID is too long or when you add an ID and press the tab key multiple times.

NoteThis behavior is not always reproducible.

Known Issues

Page 26: Event Management Release Guide - Bridgewater State · PDF fileInternet Explorer Compatibility View setup ... Event Management forms in Banner 8.X ... • Banner General Event Management

26

Attendance Tracking (GEAATRK)

The Select All button does not display on the Attendance Tracking (GEAATRK) page when there are more than 10 registrants.

As a workaround, you may select the first registrant on the page and Shift-click on the last registrant on the page. This action will select all registrants on the page.

Insert, Delete, Filter, and Copy Toolbar icons

The tool bar icons for Insert, Delete, Filter, and Copy are not disabled on the child section even when the section is read-only or the user has only read-only access to the page. This issue is reproducible on all pages with a master-detail sections such as the Individual Function Inquiry (GEIIDFN), Attendance (GEAATTD), Event Registration (GEAATID), Event (SLAEVNT) pages.

NoteClicking those icons does not perform any action and will not cause any issues.

Advanced search

If a user selects “IS NULL” as search criteria and then selects “Between” the text fields for “Between do not display.

All pages

If a user types a page name and pressing the Enter key before the drop down list of pages displays will open the page that was last accessed instead of the page that was entered.

Self-Service

The following issues exist with in Self-Service Banner.

• The create account page does not display a scrolling indicator when using the iPad (iOS5), however, single finger scrolling is available.

• Buttons on the Notification Center appear as text on an Android when using landscape mode.

Push Processing

Batch push processing is not part of the Banner General Event Management 9.0 release, but is slated as a future enhancement. Until this functionality is delivered, please consider using the Mass Data Update Utility (MDUU) as an option for moving this data. For more information on MDUU, please see the Banner Mass Data Update Utility Handbook.

The Push Processing documentation provided as a part of the Banner General Proxy Access release (Appendix C of the Banner General 8.5 Proxy Access Handbook), can be used to help you should you decide to use this option.

NoteYou can push individual records using the Potential Banner Person Inquiry (GRIPREL) form in conjunction with Common Matching. This option should only be used after the Event has occurred. Creating the new SPRIDEN ID will not allow the individual to see event registrations under the previous PROXY ID.

System Navigation

The ability to navigate from a page in the Banner Student Catalog and Schedule 9.0 application to a page in Banner General Event Management 9.0 is currently not enabled. This will only be an issue if both the Banner Student Catalog and Schedule 9.0 and the Banner General Event Management 9.0 applications have been installed. Navigation from the Catalog and Schedule application to Event Management will be provided in the Banner Student Catalog and Schedule 9.1 release.

If both the Banner Student Catalog and Schedule 9.0 application and the Banner General Event Management 9.0 application have been installed, please consider one of the following suggestions as a workaround for this issue:

• Instruct users to log out of Catalog and Schedule before attempting to navigate to a page in Event Management.

• Control user access via security by setting up security so individual users can access either Catalog and Schedule pages or Event Management pages, but not both.

When using the French locale, buttons and links on the Login page partially overlap the User Name and Password fields.

JAWS reader

When using the JAWS reader, the following issues exist:

• On the Attendance Tracking (GEAATRK) and Attendance (GEAATTD) pages, read-only fields are not being read out as “read-only.”

• On the Attendance Tracking (GEAATRK) page, the “Select All” and the check-boxes in each row are not read.

• The short cut key for “Start Over” is not functioning as expected with the reader.

• The Event Management Shift-F3 hotkey conflicts with the JAWS Shift-F3 hotkey.

• On the Advance Search page, the button/control to remove a filter option does not have an associated tool tip.
