Who would be the audience for your media product? How did you attract/address your audience Having the correct target audience for your film is extremely important as this is what determines whether or not a film is successful or not. Target audience helps the producers and the director understand what the current market like and dislike. If you don’t research into your target audience then you could potentially create a film that is not suitable for that particular target audience. This would be critical in the industry as you’d lose profit.

Shannon best fits our target audience.

Shannon O'Conner is a seventeen year old student, who's currently studying business and PE at Bristol Brunel Academy. She has a part time job at Wetherspoons, so she has little free time, but when she does she enjoys going to the cinema with her friends, to watch the latest thrillers films. Her favourite psychological thriller films are ‘The girl with the dragon tattoo’, ‘Shutter island’ and ‘Seven’.

After showing Shannon the clip for our film, I asked Shannon a few questions, and this is her response:

Did you enjoy our film opening?“ Yes I did, I thought that it was a really effective film opening. The music used made me feel tense, but in a good way. It built

up suspense and made me wonder what was about to happen next. I really wanted to carry on watching”.

Did it fit our genre?“ Yes I feel like it did, I knew straight away from the first scene that is was a thriller., however ii didn't necessarily know it was

a psychological thriller until the bedroom scene.

You said that you didn’t necessarily know it was a psychological thriller until the bedroom scene? Why is this?“I didn’t know it was a psychological thriller until the bedroom scene because there wasn’t a character involved until then. I

knew it was a psychological thriller then because the character was having a nightmare and in most Psychological thriller the main character is normally battling a metal or physical problem”.

How did it fit the genre?“ I personally think it fits the genre because it has used eerie music, which I think is commonly used in Psychological thrillers

to create suspense and also because of it dark lighting. Also the pace of the film is very fast, but it fits with the eerie background music.

What did you like and dislike about our film opening?“ I really like the storyline of the whole nightmare scene, however it did confuse me a little at first. The music really fits with

the storyline, and I like how it changed when the character woke up, it shows that there’s a change in the atmosphere, and indicates that something unusual is about to happen.

What was your opinion on the director/actors?“ The actor did a really good job, she kept in character throughout the whole opening. I also think the director did a really

good job, as they used a variety of shots”

Do you want to watch the rest of the film? And would you watch it in the cinema?“yes I do, it has a really interesting storyline and I would defiantly want to watch this film in the cinema”
