    EVALUATION QUESTION

  • Q1. WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?

  • EXISTING MAGAZINES (FRONT COVERS):

    Q: Mojo:

  • EXISTING MAGAZINES (CONTENTS PAGE)

    Q Mojo

  • EXISTING MAGAZINES (DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD):

    Mojo Q

  • MY FRONT COVER OF MY MUSIC MAGAZINE

    Conventions:

Masthead, strapline, puff, price, date, issue, barcode, central image, cover lines.

    Subverted Conventions:

-I have subverted the typical conventions by having the cover lines all around the central image not just to have it all on the left hand side, like some existing magazines do. This will show the various cover lines my magazine will include. Also it gives the central image shape, by the cover lines around her head making her stand out for the reader.

  • MY CONTENTS PAGE OF MY MUSIC MAGAZINE

    Conventions:

-Sub-headings, folios, variety of images which anchor the cover lines / stories, colour theme/scheme is consistent, masthead, publishers name.

-The generic conventions which are typically found on a contents page I have conformed to like many other existing magazines who choose to lay out their page similar to this. The existing magazines which I have analyzed Q & Mojo influenced my decision to conform to the typical layout used rather than subverting it.

  • MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD OF MY MUSIC MAGAZINE

    Conventions:

Pull quotes, drop caps, variety of images, title, Sub-heading

    Subverted:

    - I have decided to subvert the typical layout of a double page spread by using question and answer interview instead of a story. Also by not using columns to present this. Unlike some existing magazines who chose to use columns. I subverted the typical conventions in a double page spread to attract a modern, fresh audience who are open to change.
