Who would be the audience for your media product?
The age of the audience for my media product would be male and female teens between the ages of 14/15
to young adults between the ages of 20/21. This allows time for the students to have a part-time job and get
money to buy the magazine, although it isn’t that expensive (£1.50). I have also taken into account the type
of scene my audience would like, which is more mainstream. They will attend festivals such as Leeds Fest
and Glastonbury in summer after exams to see artists which feature in my magazine such as Arctic
Monkeys, Mumford and Sons, Rita Ora, Jake Bugg and The Vaccines.
Hobbies include socialising with friends either at bars or restaurants, shopping and music. Whether its
learning to play an instrument to seeing local bands in the pub on the weekend. They may already be
subscribed to magazines and get updates on their phones, and follow celebrities on twitter for news of
upcoming tour dates and gossip. They follow the basic fashion trend and don’t strike out and wear
anything too girly or gothic and are very image conscious, with influences from artists that are hard to
escape for example, Rihanna’s clothing line at River Island.
The colours and fonts of my product reflect the audiences taste. Nothing considered too ‘grungy’ or dark is
used in the magazine, the colours used are bold yet don’t have to much of a contrast and the font is clear
and not distressed which is associated with heavy rock magazines, attracting a whole other audience.
