THE NATIONAL REHABILITATION CENTER FOR THE BLIND – Plovdiv; Bulgaria
The NRCB is an institution for the resocialization of visually impaired people, licensed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the National Agency of Vocational Education and Training in Bulgaria. The NRCB is the only institution for basic rehabilitation and professional training of visually impaired people in the country through introduction of unified minimum standards and requirements for quality, quantity and sufficiency of the services.
Target group: Visually impaired people (children and adults) from the whole country
Services:� BASIC REHABILITATION – the activities are directed at rehabilitating the
person’s social functions with the purpose of optimum accomplishing a self-dependent life.
� PRE-VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION - The activities on the pre-vocational rehabilitation are directed at the rehabilitation of the person’s work functions with the purpose of preparing him/her for professional realization

- 133 children in different services. Educational support, rehabilitation,
medical and psychological care, from 0 to 25 years old, with or
without associated disabilities.
- 18 adults from 18 to 50, in a vocational training and rehabilitation
center. 4 training cycles in the business tertiary sector and in the well-
being and spas sector.
- 30 adults per year for workstation assessment.
- 180 adults in the low vision center for AMD (age-related macular
degeneration), glaucoma, retinopathy and elderly people. To maintain
autonomy, independence, daily activities by rehabilitation and to slow
the onset of signs of dependence.
