The European Innovation Council pilot supports top-class innovators, entrepreneurs, small companies and scientists with bright ideas and the ambition to scale up internationally. It brings together the parts of Horizon 2020 that provide funding, advice and networking opportunities for those at cutting edge of innovation.
The EIC pilot is an initiative of the European Commission that proposes substantial funding and competitive offerings for innovators regarding access to finance, coaching, and other means of support. The EIC pilot consists of four support programmes including the SME Instrument, Fast-Track to Innovation (FTI), Future and Emerging Technologies Open (FET-Open), and the Horizon Prizes.

AQUA.abibSustainable water treatment through distillation based on solar power. The project enjoys an SME Instrument Phase II grant with which it is constructing a commercial prototype. The commercial activities will begin in the sector of seawater desalination and brine treatment, at the Middle East. In a near future, the system will be adjusted for the treatment of other contaminated waters such as industrial waters.
