3.2 Installing the Fibre Channel Card Driver

Check whether the Fibre Channel card driver for the Fibre Channel card and OS combination isthe OS standard driver or not. Also, check the driver versions using the "Server Support Matrix".

When the Fibre Channel card requires a standard kernel package driverThe standard add-on driver for the OS should be used.

When the Fibre Channel card requires a non-standard driverDownload and install the driver specified in the "Server Support Matrix" from the QLogic Corpweb-site.Refer to the Fiber Channel card user guide in the QLogic Corp web-site for details.

3.3 Setting the Driver Parameters

Open the "/etc/modprobe.conf" file in an editor such as "vi", and add the setting values for eachdriver.Setting value varies according to whether the ETERNUS Multipath is used or not, and whatETERNUS Disk storage systems (ETERNUS2000, ETERNUS4000, or ETERNUS8000) areused.

For single-path configuration or multi-path configuration without using the ETERNUS Multipath Driver, or any configurations using the VERITAS Volume Manager or device mapper multipath

3.4 Creating an Initial RAM Disk

Create an initial RAM disk image file to match the kernel being used.Perform the following procedure.

Procedure

1 Use the following command to check which kernel is being used.

When SCSI and SCSI-RAID devices are installed on the system,incrementa l numbers ( "2 , 3 , . . . " ) a re added to the end o f the"scsi_hostadapterX" parameters.

P

2 Backup the existing initial RAM disk image file, then create a new initial RAM disk image file.Image file name varies depending on whether the server has a single or multiple CPUs.

Example: For a single CPU server

Example: For a multiple CPU server

3 Set the boot loader.Edit "/etc/grub.conf" with an editor such as "vi".Comment out the previous initial RAM disk image file and add the new initial RAM diskimage file.
