Goals of this course are:

1. Improve reading comprehension in English

2. Improve writing communication skill in English

3. Develop critical thinking through reading

Objectives are expected as a result of this course:

1. Students will recognize one part of American society in the 1930s through reading and can compare to modern society.

2. Students will be able to write their comprehension about the materials.

3. Students will be able to demonstrate how web tools are used as a learning tool in on-line class.

ACTIVITY

Activity I: Sign up on My Fake Wall and create one character's page from Chapter 1 to Chapter 3. You should post the character's personal information at My Fake Wall by "To kill a mockingbird." Also, visit other characters' page which your classmates have created and leave messages for at least three characters.

Activity II: Choose at least 3 quotes which you think are important in the assigned chapters and describe why you selected each one and how the quotes affect the story or what they mean.

Activity III: Imagine what a character is thinking about while they are not being written about from Chapter 9 to Chapter 13. Where are they? Why are they there?

Activity IV: Choose two characters from Chapter14 to Chapter 18 and write a new dialogue between the two characters. The conversation should demonstrate how the characters would resolve an argument, or should demonstrate that one character was surprised by something the other character did or said.

Activity VI: You are going to play "Jeopardy Game" with your classmates. First, you will post five answers. And then choose your classmate's five answers and create five questions.

Example: Answer- Walter Cunningham

Question- Who can not afford lunch one day at school and accidentally gets Scout in trouble? (Chapter 2) or Who poured syrup on vegetables and even meat with a generous hand? (Chapter 3)

Activity VII: We are going to role play on My Fake Wall. You can use the Fake Wall page which you created in the first week or create another character's page. Visit other characters' page. You can ask the character what you are curious about or just talk to them. Also, answer the classmates' questions as the character or respond to them.
