    Lido/eRouteManual v4.0.3

Lufthansa Systems Printed on: January 26, 2012 Page 4 of 20

This document describes the main evolutions and new features for Lido/eRouteManual 4.0.3 compared to the previous version of Lido/eRouteManual. For an in-depth description of each item listed below, please refer to the Lido/eRouteManual CBT available online and the Help file available inside the application through the ? button on the top right hand corner of every page.

    1 Setup page

1.1 Load ATC / Load FPL

Selecting the flight plan of your choice amongst those made available by your airline is now possible. If more than one flight plan is available to the Lido/eRouteManual, a submenu will appear.

Figure 1 : Select the flight plan to load

    1.2 Route Entry page

On the Route Entry page the user can:

Load a stored company route or user setup

    Manually enter a route

Save / delete a user setup

1.2.1 Load a stored company route or user setup

Use the Select Route button to display all the available company routes and saved user setups. Use the Ident and Type header buttons to sort the routes. Select the route of interest from the list or type the route ident in the scratchpad. Click on the Accept button (bottom right).

    1.2.2 Manually enter a route

Use the scratchpad to enter the route, element after element. In eRouteManual 4.0.3, it is not necessary to specify the type of route element (Fix, AWY, APT) you are entering in the scratchpad. All types of elements are shown in the list; they are sorted by default by distance, when available, from the preceding route element in the scratchpad; no distance is available for AWYs. The sorting order in the list can be modified by using the header buttons Dist., Type, Ident, Name/Block. A route can be entered and edited in the scratchpad by following these guidelines:

Enter a route element's ident in the scratchpad followed by space or select it from the route entry list, which will copy the ident in the scratchpad and automatically insert the space after it. Note: if the ident of a route element entered in full in the scratchpad is not unique, it must be

    selected manually from the list

A route must start and end with an airport or fix. In case of in-flight replanning, set a dummy airport (any airport out of the list) or a Fix as start for your new route.

The airports entered after the destination airport will be listed as alternates in the clipboard (max. 3 alternates)

An airway segment must start and end with a Fix, which actually lies on the respective airway

Intersecting airways (AWY-AWY crossings) may be entered, the respective Fix will be added automatically. This is probably the quickest and most convenient way of entering a route or segment of it into the scratchpad Note: if two AWYs have more than one intersecting Fix, the user will be prompted to choose one from a list upon validation of the Route Entry page

Geographical coordinates, also called Random Fixes, may be entered using the format [NS]99-99/[EW]999-99, eg. "N23-00/E120-00". The first character defines the latitude (N for North, S for South) and the second one the longitude (E for East, W for West). Degrees are shown in the first two or three figures, minutes in the second two, divided by a hyphen. The longitude is divided into east and west from 0 - 180, while the latitude is 0 - 90. The message "Random fix match." appears at the bottom of the scratchpad when the coordinate syntax is correct.

Geographical coordinates can also be entered using the simplified format [NS]AABB[EW]CCCDD, eg. "N2300E12000"

5-letter coordinates according to the ARINC 424 standard, eg. 5500E, can be entered as well.

1.2.3 Save, delete a user setup

The route entered in the scratchpad as well as the associated airport clips (including chart zooming and panning settings) can be saved as a user setup by selecting the Save Route button. Enter a name for this user setup in the popup's scratchpad and select Save. In order to delete a user setup, it must first be displayed in the list: press the Select Route button in the Route Entry page to toggle it on. Then, select the "X" button in the list and confirm. Note: company routes (Type: COMP) cannot be deleted manually.

Figure 2 : Save / delete user setup

    1.2.4 Scratchpad

    1.2.4.1 Dashed underlined route elements

If an element is underlined with a dashed line in the scratchpad, this means that this element is either unknown to the application or that its connection with the preceding or following element is invalid or uncertain. This situation does not block the user and the Accept button on the Route Entry page will remain available. Such a case may occur after the route is edited in the scratchpad and the following situations arise:

an AWY-AWY crossing is missing an intersecting Fix in the scratchpad

an AWY-AWY crossing is invalid (no intersecting Fix exists)

an AWY is followed or preceded by an unknown AWY

an AWY is not passing through the preceding or following Fix

an AWY is preceded or followed by an unknown Fix

an AWY is between two Random Fixes

an AWY is before or after a Random Fix

Figure 3 : Dashed underlined route element

The consequence on the Enroute chart is that the route segment corresponding to the dashed underlined segment will be skipped. The route elements surrounding the dashed underline element will be linked by a direct segment.

Figure 4 : Dashed route segment

    1.2.4.2 Solid underlined route elements

If an element(s) is(are) underlined with a solid line in the scratchpad, this means that the global syntax of the route is invalidated and the Accept button will be disabled. Such a case may occur after the route is edited in the scratchpad and the following situations arise:

an APT is found after an AWY

an AWY is found after the departure APT

an AWY is found after the destination APT

a Fix is found after the destination APT

a Random Fix is found after the destination APT

an AWY is found after one of the alternate APTs

Lufthansa Systems Printed on: January 26, 2012 Page 7 of 20

a Fix is found after an alternate APT

a Random Fix is found after an alternate APT

an APT is found after the thrid alternate APT

an AWY is found as the first element in the route

the same AWY is repeated twice in a row

Figure 5 : Solid underlined route element

Note: the global syntax of the route in the scratchpad must have one of the following formats to be valid, otherwise the Accept button is disabled. The content in brackets is optional:

    DEP (DEST ALTN1 ALTN2 ALTN3)

    (DEP) FIX1 FIX2 FIXn (DEST ALTN1 ALTN2 ALTN3) (DEP) FIX1 (AWY1) FIX2 (AWY2) (AWYn) FIXn (DEST ALTN1 ALTN2 ALTN3) (DEP) FIX1 AWY1 AWY2 AWYn FIX2 (AWYn) FIXn (DEST ALTN1 ALTN2 ALTN3) Empty scratchpad

The following abbreviations are used in the list above:

    DEP: departure airport

    DEST: destination airport

    ALT: alternate airport

FIX: Navaid or Waypoint or Random Fix

    AWY: airway

    1.2.5 Route Entry List

The route entry list contains all types of route elements: fixes (Fix) which can be Navaids or waypoints (WPT), airways (AWY), airports (APT) and random Fixes (Random).

Note: the Fixes and AWYs listed after an AWY is entered in the scratchpad will be those connected to this AWY. Note: the AWYs listed after a Fix is entered in the scratchpad will be those passing through this Fix. Elements in the list are sorted by default by distance (in NM) to the preceding element in the scratchpad, when available. No distance is available for AWYs. The sorting order in the list can be modified by using the header buttons Dist., Type, Ident, Name/Block.

    2 Terminal charts

    2.1 SID/STAR procedure selection

SIDs/STARs can always be selected by RWY and when implemented in the revised charts, by exit/entry quadrant (N, S, E, W, NE, SE, NW, SW) as before. A new ALL button is available on the SID/STAR runway and procedure indexes. It will list all procedures available (all quadrants).

Figure 7 : "ALL" quadrant button

If a runway has been selected, the quadrant selection buttons will list the procedures available for this specific runway.

2.2 Grouping SIDs / STARs / IACs applicable to several RWYs

If a procedure is applicable to several runways, its selection/deselection with the other runways will be coupled on the procedure indexes and All Charts Index. As well, the applicable runways are appended to the chart title in brackets and displayed in the Info submenu on the chart viewer page in the chart title area. This allows "decluttering" of the clip since the chart will appear only once. Here is an example of what this looks like for "LSGG STAR FRI 1S", applicable for RWYs 05 & 23.

Figure 8 : Grouping procedures applicable to several runways

    2.3 All Charts Index

    2.3.1 Preview mode

Charts can be previewed from the All Charts Index by selecting the View button, as before. Once in preview mode, use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons on the right to scroll through the list of charts in the All Charts Index and select/deselect the charts you need with the Add to Clip/Remove from Clip button. This allows complete graphical selection of charts without going back and forth to the All Charts Index.

    3 Terminal Chart Viewer

    3.1 Chart title Info button

The new Info button displays extra information on the displayed chart: 1st line: airport ICAO code, IATA code and name

2nd line: airport city & country

    3rd line: chart title

4th line: the applicable runway(s). For SIDs, the runway QFU is appended to the runway in brackets. For non-runway related charts, this line is omitted

5th line :chart effectivity date Note: the chart effectivity date is applicable to the whole content of the displayed chart, including subchart(s). There is no distinction in eRM between the effectivity date of the plan view (eg. SID procedure) and that of the subchart (eg. SIDPT).

Figure 11 : Info button for terminal charts

    3.2 Fixed elements

On top of the existing fixed elements for SIDs, STARs, IACs (COM frequency box, topography legend, conversion table), the Navaid frequency box has been added for IACs.

3.3 Subcharts divider mode for IACs

Subcharts can be zoomed and panned like any other chart provided they have the focus (the subchart is surrounded by a yellow border), which can be done by clicking on the subchart or by pressing the TAB key repeatedly until the focus reaches the correct subchart region.

There may be multiple subcharts available, depending on the chart and the Lido/eRouteManual configuration. The number of subcharts is depicted the cycle views button (see beloe). If the button is available, click on it to cycle through the charts.

Figure 12 : Cycle views button

In divider mode, both subcharts are independent in zoom and pan settings.

Figure 13 : IAC subchart divider mode

Note: in divider mode, the subchart button is available only if one of the two subchart regions has the focus.

    3.4 Horizontal/vertical dividers

The default ratio of subchart to main plan view upon opening of a chart is configurable by an administrator, but can be changed during runtime by dragging the horizontal/vertical divider up/down. The whole subchart area can be shown/hidden by pressing the button in the center of the divider.

    Figure 14 : Horizontal / vertical dividers

    3.5 Reorder

Charts inside a same type may be reordered. This option may only be set by an administrator. The following workflow describes the steps to reorder a chart:

    1. Press the reorder button in front of the chart to be reordered 2. Use the move up/down arrow buttons to set the chart at its final location 3. Lock the chart in its final position by pressing the reorder button once again or press a

different reorder button to lock the chart in place and start reordering a different chart

    3.7 Duplication (STB layout only)

Duplication of terminal charts is only available in the Single Toolbar (STB) layout. It can be turned on or off depending on your airline's needs. Duplicating a chart results in creating a copy of the previous chart in a fully independent new chart view which can be manipulated like any other chart (zoom, pan and even reorder if this function is enabled). In order to duplicate a chart, press the corresponding duplicate button. The new chart is positioned below the duplicated chart.

4.3 Warning areas and SUAs list

As soon as a route is loaded, the eRouteManual application generates a list of overflown warning areas and SUAs, which can be accessed from the Warning Areas button. This button is located in the Enroute submenu in the toolbar. When the Warning Areas button is selected, a popup listing all overflown Warning Areas and SUAs is displayed over the Enroute chart. Selecting rows in this list will highlight the corresponding area in amber (Warning Areas) or blue (SUAs) on the Enroute chart for better visualization.

Figure 20 : Warning Areas list

In order to get the complete information about the highlighted area, select the Info button. A new popup will be displayed with the same information as with a warning area from an Attribute Lookup

Figure 21 : Warning Area detail popup

The PREV/NEXT buttons can be used to cycle through all the Warning Areas and SUAs in the previous list. The highlighting on the Enroute chart gets updated accordingly. The Back button (top left) will display the warning areas & SUAs list. Note: the COM button is not available in this Warning Area popup since this window is referring to the whole warning area and not a single point inside this area where the Attribute Lookup was triggered.

In the scratchpad, the idents of the elements composing the SIGMET area can be entered. Just like in the Route Entry page, it is possible to enter airports, airways, waypoints, navaids and geographical coordinates (referred to as Random Fixes in eRouteManual) without specifying the type of route element. The colour of the SIGMET area to be used on the Enrotue chart must be chosen from the Color submenu underneath the scratchpad.

Figure 26 : SIGMET area "Colour" & "Name" buttons

The name of the SIGMET area must be defined by selecting the Name button. Enter the chosen name in the scratchpad of the displayed popup and select the Set button at the bottom. The SIGMET Area Entry page is updated with the selected name and colour above the scratchpad.

Figure 27 : SIGMET area defined

Press the ACCEPT button at the bottom right of the SIGMET Area Entry to save. The Enroute chart is then displayed with the created SIGMET area whose name is printed in the center. The Esc RTE / SIG submenu is also updated with the created area.

    6 Help

The Help documentation is now in HTML format (the Search function is available) and available from every page of the application, in the top right corner from the ? button.

7 Send (class II & III EFBs only)

Only the displayed chart is sent offside (instead of the whole setup like in Lido/eRouteManual 3.7.X).

    8 Windows Vista & Windows 7 compatibility

Lido/eRouteManual 4.0.3 is tested on standard Windows 7 installations. Saved routes and the previous setup can only be reloaded if the same user profile is used.

    9 Known limitations

    9.1 Performance

In case of noticeable decrease in the applications performance, it is recommended to restart the application. Note: the applications performance will increase with the hardware performance (dedicated RAM, processor frequency).

    9.2 Application effective date

This limitation only occurs if orientationAutodetect="true" in userConfig.xml.

If eRM is launched with an outdated DB cycle, the application effective date will be shown in a warning colour on the Setup page next to the word Database.

Figure 33 : application effective date in warning colour

If the screen is then rotated, the application effective date disappears.

    9.3 Updater java process

The Lido/eRouteManual Updater process may remain within the Windows Task Manager list of processes even after closing the Updater interface. If such situation occurs, the Lido/eRouteManual application will not launch. The Updater process (Image Name: javaw.exe) will have to be ended in the Windows Task Manager through the End Process button.
