Exam schedule

• At K.U. Leuven you have always two exam chances for each course

• There are 3 examination periods: january: 1st semester courses- january: 1st semester courses

- june: 2nd sem courses + evt. 2nd chance for 1st sem courses (EMM only)- august/september: 2nd chance for 1st and 2nd sem courses

• Exams can ONLY take place during these periods

• Non-EMM students have to ask permission by the faculty to do retake exams of sem 1 courses in the June session !!!

• EMM students are allowed to take second chance exams in the june session to allow a smooth transition to 2nd year university, BUT it is advised to do this y y,only if the number of exams is limited to a few (1 to 3 max) !

• For the january and june sessions exams for each course are already scheduled by the faculty secretariat, and are visible in your ISP.

• Check with your choice of ISP also your exam schedule !

• For august session students make direct appointments with professor

Problems during exams

• Exam dates can only be changed in exceptional situations (e.g. illness), and ONLY by the ombuds person after consulting with the ), y p gteacher

• If you cannot attend an exam• ALWAYS inform the faculty secretary (Anouck Brouwers) and the ombuds

person (Inge Asselberghs) beforehand !- Inform the teacher in time that you will not attend the exam !

- Absence on a fixed examdate is ONLY allowed based on clear motivation (illness, accident, personal problems), NOT on study related reasons (not ready to do exam)exam).

- If you are absent without reason or notice you loose your exam chance

• Ombudsperson is available for helping you with problems (conflicts, schedule, illness, etc.): Inge Asselberghs

Exam formats, scoring and feedback

• Default format: oral examination with written preparation ! Dont let you surprise !

• Professors should explain exam format well in time ! If he/she did not: ASK ! Formats are also available on program book

• Courses are scored on a total scale of 20 points, percentage is weighted sum of scores of all courses !

• When you do second chance exam in august: you keep your highest score from the two chances (only within one academic year )

• Be careful: if you pass the exam you cannot do a second chance to increase your score !increase your score !

• After each examination session: scores will be made available on KU Loket, and a session will be planned with program director to discuss your results

• At the end of the program: examination commission meets and decides on the final result and pass/fail !

• After examination commission: graduation ceremony (proclamation) and distribution of certificates and transcripts

Pass/fail criteria and CSE forlocal program

• Student passes the program if he passes for every part of the program (min 10/20)(min 10/20)
