26 March 2014 our patent for epoxy containing foils has been granted.

This patent is the result of approximately 50 years experience and effort of Jacob Woudsma who has written this patent. Due to his experience he build up at his previous employers (Dow, Akzo, Shell, Arkema) he could start his own business in renovation and local preservation of wooden windows and doors. From 2008 until now he has been busy to create this patent with the help of his son Vincent Woudsma. The foil must be seen as a new material, regardless application, regardless substrate. Even every combined resin product is protected.

Page 3: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

Epoxy resin products have proven themselves in many applications but:

When a flexible property (shore harness of D47 or lower) is needed, most epoxy based products that are sold as flexible, turn out to be just temporarily flexible.

External influences can cause many other defects.

Fluctuations of and extreme temperatures have strong negative influence on the curing time of resin products.

Drips, wrinkles, stains, uneven surfaces, air-bubbles, variable uncontrolled quality, cracks due to insufficient elasticity.

Etc.

These quality problems results in unwanted stagnation of projects, unreliable curing times, high application costs, unstable quality. Quality inspection is necessary to create a certain level of quality.

Look at it as:

1. an elastic epoxy containing material

2. a NEW material

Page 11: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

The patent protects every

elastic foil

with a thickness between 0.01-1.5mm (claim 1)

as a multilayer (claim 5)

as a modified reaction product (aromatic, aliphatic or hybride) (claim 1)

where the hardener is selected from polyols, polyether amines, modified cycloaliphatic polyamines, polymercaptanes, polysulfides polyaminecyanide, or combinations thereof

this means that the foil can be combined with other embodiments resulting in a composition of the different materials for the different surfaces.

New solution solves many

existing problems Elastic epoxy containing foils - in combination with the

spinoff of the other embodiments - and application

methods for applying these products offers a solution

for these problems.

It is possible to connect all systems to one fully

chemically bonded end result. The fluctuations of

temperatures have nearly no impact anymore on the

resin curing- and dryingtime due the possibility that no

waiting time is needed before you can start the next

application step.

Elastic foils on floors, window frames etc. to protect and speed up the process.

After applying a primer, apply the foil. Than you can put on the 3rd top layer without having to wait for the drying times.

After repairing wood with the epoxy resin version, you can directly apply a foil version over the repaired surface.

Existing foils of other polymers will become more chemically stable by adding epoxy.

Elastic magnetic foils like rubber/ epoxy are more stable than rubber foil alone.

Elastic silicone/epoxy enhances the chemical bonding to other substrates

Visco elastic polymers can have a better performance

for the protection against corrosion.

Visco elastic polymers can become self-healing by

adding a UV curing epoxy in between 2 layers.

Multilayer foils for creating specific properties.

Reactive foils

Elastic foils can be created in all possible colours.

Designed foils are possible that can be exported.

QUESTIONS

manufacturing technology and economics (i.e. cost

advantage)

quality / performance metrics

durability

comparisons with currently available films

Page 37: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

1. Manufacturing technology

and economics

Our patents protects:

All the methods which are making elastic, reactive and/or

non-reactive, epoxy containing foils.

Page 38: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

There are a few manufacturing

technologies in the market:

Using the Basf foil technology.

paper used as substrate in combination with paint and

heat or light curing the components or drying the water

based epoxypaints.

These epoxy containing products e.g. of epoxyacrylates

applied on wood by premade sheets for the furniture

industry like Ikea.

Page 39: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

In China epoxy containing foils are already produced.

Page 40: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

System like the SFP film or Special Foil Protection

made from polyurethane foils are used in the car and

some other industries.

Using the combination of liquid systems together with

solid systems result in a monopoly, which will give you

great economics advantages.

Page 41: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

2. Quality technology and

economics

The epoxy technology can be divided in:

A. the properties that have to be used.

B. the process technology of the manufacturing.

C. the application of the products

Page 42: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

Epoxies are little or not sensitive for reactivity in

general. The combination with other foils direct by

laminating or indirect by mixing can easily result in

multifunctional foils which has enormous advantages.

Page 43: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

all thinkable properties can be created by laminating or

mixing the different polymers resulting in endless

possibilities.

very economical due to the fact that one patent covers

all application possibilities.

every applied foil containing this new material

on the first place on a elastic epoxy based or

secondly on a aromatic or aliphatic polymer or

bio based is protected by our patent.

Page 44: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

3. Durability and economics

The epoxyfoil is chemically dependent on his Mol

weight of the applied epoxy in general. We can say that

this is complete dependent of required demands.

The epoxyfoils in the embodiment of a coating is in

general smaller than 700 mol weight.

For composites this Mol weight will be higher than 700

Page 45: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

In our patent the range of epoxy molecules for all

concerning foils are protected by our patents. In case

we are making combination with other foils used as

harders or other thinners (reactive or not) we can claim

all epoxy based foils in the whole range of the

molecules.

Page 46: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

Our knowhow is much more than epoxy foils alone

It is also based on adhesives, composites, sealants,

repairs, coatings, paints, etc.

If one of the above is used to make an elastic epoxy

containing foil it will be protected by our patent.

Page 47: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

The durability of the applied elastic epoxyfoils is

amongst others derived from the adhesives/ repair

which have been applied in practice already for about

25 years.

Page 48: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

An epoxyfoil is produced in a controlled environment

and has therefore a controlled quality before it is

applied.

When a liquid form is applied the quality is more

depending on the conditions of the environment.

The ROI/Return on investment will become therefor

very high.

Page 49: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

4. Comparable with the other

foils and economics

We can divide the existing elastic foils in two main

groups

the thermoplastic types of foils like:

PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, EPDM, NBR rubber etc.

the thermosetting types of foils like:

polyurethane

and now for the first time: elastic epoxy containing foils

Page 50: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

From the thermoplastic types of wood the bad

performance of PVC and the danger for the

environment applied on wood for example is a great

problem.

Some suppliers are waiting on our first elastic epoxy

foils because the PVC is a danger for the environment.

elastic epoxy containing foils can exchange PVC

Page 51: Epoxy as foil 03-2015

Unique opportunity we would like to sell our knowhow to a leading foil

producer like 3M, Sabic, BASF because they are

capable to lead this disruptive technology.
