he CUPOLAdecon1 is a multi-personnel Rapid Decontamination Shelter comprising a
eavy-duty inflatable frame and removable, disposable inner lining, which incorporates an
tegral sump fitted with drain outlets in each corner. The inner lining has three separate
alk-through sections, two of which can accommodate two-stage decontamination the third
eing used for either non ambulant casualties (stretcher cases) or for Emergency Servicesonitoring personnel. To ensure thorough decontamination, each outer section is fitted with
ur or five sets of showering nozzles, these nozzles are situated above and on either side of
e casualty. When a four shower system is adopted in each outer section these can be fed
om two separate water feed pipes and therefore will allow individual dosing using detergent
nd additives. When entering the shower section the first two shower systems could deliver
luted detergent whilst the second two shower system would be for final rinse, and therefore
ould have induced additive. The Twin Inducer is ideally suited for this process. When the
UPOLAdecon1 is not in use it is stored in a valise-type storage bag along with a hand pump,
pair kit, guy lines, mallet and pegs.
he two outer sections of the CUPOLAdecon1 are for separating males from females during the
ass decontamination process, whilst the third section would normally be used for the Emergency
ervice personnel who are monitoring the decontamination process. This centre section also allows
e Emergency Services personnel to assist casualties that may need specialist attention. Shouldecontamination of non-ambulant casualties be necessary then one partition could be removed to
oduce a wider section to facilitate the fitting of a roller bed, with the advantage of access to both
des. When a partition is removed for the purpose of manual decontamination by the Emergency
ervices of non ambulant casualties or casualties needing assistance then a hand-held shower
corporating multi-facility spray heads, suspended on 1.5 metre long flexible hoses can be connected
y self sealing auto shut off valves to one of the external main water feed pipes. These two external
ater feed pipes consists of 19mm() lay-flat hose fed from 19mm() Geka quick couplings.
he CUPOLAdecon1 is exceptionally stable even in strong blustery winds. The arch shape of the
eavy-duty inflatable frame is designed to deflect wind and increase stability and therefore minimize
e effect on the structure. In addition, the shelter can be anchored using the fitted guy lines pegged to
e ground or to fixed structures. The frame is made from a tough, neoprene coated polyester material,
nd is fitted with pressure relief valves to prevent over-pressurisation. The inner lining is removabler easy and safe disposal, and is made from bright yellow fluorescent coated polyester to ensure
aximum internal light during the day and night (all lighting external).
he CUPOLAdecon1 can be accessed from both sides but is intended for the movement of casualties
one direction only. The entrance and exit sides are clearly marked for instant recognition and
asualties are guided through each stage of the process with pictograms indicating the action to be
ken and the direction of movement. Interchangeable pictogram signs are fitted above each entrance
hich allows the operators to section off the decontamination units dependent on gender or for clearly
arking which cubicles are being used for stretchered casualties.
etergent can be added to the shower warm water supply for more effective decontamination using
xternal Chemical Inducers fitted in the supply line. The double chamber inducers have provision
r the introduction of one or two water additives depending on the type contamination. They can be
dividually adjusted to deliver a concentration between 0.2% and 10% depending on the type of unit
sed and the selected inducer setting. The two inducer chambers can operate in parallel or series to
fer a choice of configurations to suit the particular circumstances. Alternatively, water feeding the
ower in the second cubicle could have a different additive, such as saline solution.
ur or five people at a time.

Some or all of the internal partitions can be removed to reduce the number, but increase the size
f cubicle, offering an exceptionally flexible arrangement to suit a wide range of likely scenarios.
Stretchers can be supported and manoeuvred on an optional free-standing fold-out Roller Bed that
tretches the full length of the designated section. When not in use the hinged Roller Bed sections fold
p for compact storage and easy handling.
An integral nylon/butyl/nylon sump is incorporated within the lining. All used water is contained within
he sump and can be pumped out for safe testing and disposal from the 19mm() outlets fitted to each
f the four corners. Plastic Floor Panels are laid in the sump to ensure users are not standing in theontaminated wash-off. For transportation and storage the Floor Panels can be stacked; in addition,
Floor Matting can be laid over the panels for comfort and safety. Four weatherproof air vents are also
tted in the roof section for improved ventilation.
De-Robe and Re-Robe Shelters are available for connecting to either end of the
CUPOLAdecon 1. As most standard decontamination procedures involve the removal of clothing
ollowed by the fitting of temporary garments prior to approaching the showering area, it is therefore
mportant that an area is assigned for the privacy of both male and female casualties. With the
CUPOLAdecon 1 this is achieved with the de-robing area which is large enough for the undressing of
our or five people at a time.
For Re-robing in privacy a shelter can be provided which is large enough for casualties to dry
hemselves and re-dress using the post decontamination clothing that will be provided. The De-Robe
nd Re-Robe shelters are available in two sizes either 3 metres long or 4 metres long; normally itwould be advisable to have the 3 metre for de-robing and the 4 metre section for re-robing
