GCPC- ENVIS
Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC) is functioning as an ENVIS -
Centre on the subject area "Cleaner Production and Technology". GCPC
started its activities as ENVIS Node from January 2003. The Node has
been converted to ENVIS Centre from February 2005. As a part of the
various activities of the centre, web site of GCPC-ENVIS has been
launched. GCPC has already published thirty two issues of (quarterly)
Newsletter from July 2003till date. GCPC - ENVIS centre through working
on the various objectives is trying to spread the concept of Cleaner
Production / Cleaner Technology.

Website Home Page (GCPC-ENVIS)
Website of GCPC-ENVIS is built on NIC Platform and improved with a new look
and dynamic pages with more data related to CP-CT. GCPC ENVIS have
developed a vibrant website as the most useful resource for dissemination of
information quickly. GCPC-ENVIS WebPages are also being updated regularly.
Some addresses of the linkages have changed and hence are being updated.
Link to the ENVIS Newsletter published by GCPC is also provided. A vibrant
website with new design and features will shortly be launched as the up-
gradation is in progress.
Web site includes all the information related to CP-CT i.e. starting from
introduction to success stories on various sectors. We are also trying to solve
the problems related to production, processes, technologies, waste

2) DATA BASE DEVELOPEMENT
Database Creation and Collection on CP-CT: -
GCPC is a nodal agency to work for CP practices in the state. We have started
multidimensional activities for further spreading the concept of CP.
The Centre has completed around 8 Responsible Production Projects in
different sectors like Chemical & Petrochemicals, Dyes & Dye Intermediates.
GCPC has also completed 25 CP Assessment Projects in Stone Quarries of
Gujarat and More than 20 of Climate Change Adaptation project in association
with GIZ in Naroda Industrial Estate, Vapi Industrial estate of Gujarat. Most of
these industries have implemented major CP tools suggested in the report.
Success Stories of the same have been documented and disseminated through
Web Site, News-Letter, Guidelines and other sources for the multiplier effect.
The Centre has also published literature like Leaflets, Booklets etc in regional
language. The Centre had recently published leaflets on Cleaner Production in
Dairy, stone quarry and Textile Sectors for awareness and dissemination. One
of the main objectives of GCPC includes creating the data bank on CP-CT. We
have developed a good library comprising of Books, Journals, Training
Manuals, Reports related to CP-CT and Environment.
Since CP/CT concept is new one, the data available is not enough hence
generation of data is also important objective as ENVIS Centre. GCPC had
generated database on Cleaner Production at different sector like
Pharmaceutical, Hotel, Hospital, Dyes and Dyes intermediate, Pulp and

Paper, Textile, Stone Quarry etc. available in library and will be uploaded in
the website also.
The Awareness and Orientation Programme in industries on CP/CT and
disseminating the concept of CP/CT which is one of the objectives of ENVIS
Centre. The aim of the study is to identify the gaps between current practices
used in the industries and best technologies available at national and
international level.
GCPC has identified Key Resource Persons (KRPs), who are experts in Cleaner
Production. They have been requested to share their success stories, case
studies, and databases with us.
