Need an extension? – Exceptional factors
The procedure for applying for Exceptional Factors is:Form EF1 must be submitted for all Ex.Fac claims. Submit the form, along with all necessary documentary evidence, to the appropriate Student Hub for all units affected. Your nearest Hub is on the ground floor of the John Dalton building near the Oxford Road entrance – and their email is [email protected]. Your academic tutors (or Programme Leader) cannot take the documentation from you. If you delay, you might miss the next available Exceptional Factors panel meeting - and this could affect the way we deal with you at upcoming Boards of Examiner meetings. Please DO NOT delay in applying. The form EF1 and ALL guidance notes for this procedure are clearly presented for download at:http://www.mmu.ac.uk/sas/studentservices/guidance/
Please note that all course tutors (and the Programme Leader) DO NOT have the authority to grant you an extension. The system of submitting coursework is such that non-submission will trigger an entry in a computer database automatically. Academic staff have no access to this system and cannot give you “an extra day or two” – even if they wanted to! If you think you have potential grounds for ‘Exceptional Factors’ then you are encouraged to formally submit the evidence and application as soon as possible – and BEFORE the assignment deadline.
Study Requirements
• A class register is taken at every timetabled session – to enable us to monitor your engagement and progress. Please attend every session
• It is compulsory for ALL overseas students to attend ELSIS English language training
• Gaining a project placement is conditional upon passing all taught units and having shown evidence of engagement with the course
• A one-to-one progress tutorial will take place towards the end of January/early February
Moodle
• A virtual learning environment
• Delivers course materials electronically
• Provides a means of communication
• Lists assignment deadline dates
• Is updated weekly – please check often
• Also check your MMU email account often
• Crucial for DL mode students
