Well, I have to speak about this combination on

a stage like this as WE are the only one of all

the species ever known, who have chosen tobend Nature according to us than we changing

according to it...!

And, I found it really funny torealise that we are the prime

factor responsible for the need of

such a meet...!

In this seminar, I look forward to give a picture of how the Past

and Present of HUMANS led to drastic changes in the

ENVIRONMENT and on how WE are speculating it's future...

The Past

I should say that it was the golden era for the

Environment...

The humans were selfless and considered nature as

themselves...

All the daily deeds were fulfilled with naturally available

materials like clay, wood, leaves, animals, surface water,

etc...

The Nature Was Used But Never Exploited

The four components that makes environment Trees,

Land,Animals and Humans were most intimate at those

times...

Yet, the supreme quality of life was somehow achieved as

can be observed from harappan civilization, indus valley

civilization, etc...

I don't know where it went wrong, but...

We are half-way into the destruction of mother earth in the

name of Development and Sophistication of life...

I should say, WE have acted in an irresponsible way and by

the time we realised that, much loss has already been

incured...

Mining, De-Forestration, Industries, Dams & Reservoirs, etc...

have shown disturbingly bad effects on environment.

The chemicals that entered food chain caused extinction of a

wide range of species of all forms...

The Micro-Environmental Modifiers like Air-Conditioners,

perfumed sprays and Refrigerators have bored holes into our

Ozone...

The expnonentally increasing use of Mobile Phones, other

gadgets demanding more minerals and is indirectly a reason

reason for extensive mining...

The alarmingly increased usage of EMR of low frequency as in

Cell Phone Signals, TV & Radio Signals, etc caused un-

recoverable damage to the Bio-diversity globally...

Use of non-biodegradable materials like plastics, man-

made fabrics also effected the nature considerably...

We Have Gone Too Far In Risking The Environment

Just For US...!

Global Warming, Water Scarcity, Increased incidence of

Natural Hazards, are all the manifestations...

Is NOW really not too LATE...!?

I see a promising future both for the Environment & for Us...

Lately, we have completely understood the importance of a

healthy environment for our mere existence on the earth...

&That It is Not Any One Man's Task...!

The need for individual awarness towards the environment is

being emphasized... Many programmes like 'this one' and much

bigger ones are being conducted everyday across the globe...

Recognising the need of involving everybody to effect such

change, Earth Day, Environment Day, Earth Hour, etc are

being celebrated internationally...

Though not prominent today, shift from Non-renewable

sources of energy to renewable ones is a very bib step towards

a better world...

The ever improving science is increasing the efficiency of

enginesthus reducing the need for more energy for the same

work than ever...

The 3-Rs (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) are gaining importance

in everyones life...

Issues regardingWater are the need of hour... The techniques

regarding rain water harvesting, purifying used and impure

water, etc are to be implemented in larger scales...

All these are the first steps

towards a million milejourney...

&

No-matter how small, every

single person's contributionmatters...!

How can we help...?Well, no great sacrifices are required to play our role... It's

pretty simple and definetly in our hands...

A few are...

Turn off the lights and fans when leaving the room...

Don't use when unnecessary...Reduce water wastage...

Plant a few plants in your corridor & take care of them...

Don't use motor vehicles to cover short distances... Use

public transportation as and when possible...Don't change your gadgets frequently... and more...

Most importantly, teach the kids at home about these

habits... Reward them with small prizes for complying...

Long ago, so long ago, it was like...The NATURE

The present is more like...The Nature'Vs'Humans

I wish, The future will be like...The Nature 'and' Humans
