It was classed as a SSSI in the 1950s (Site of special scientific interest)

Much of the area became a National Nature Reserve in 1969

The area is managed by the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW)

The area is classed as a honeypot site- an area that is very accessible and beautiful

CCW tries to protect, Maintain and if possible enhance the environment

CCW tries to allow as much of the area to be accessible to the public

The sand dunes are a very fragile environment that can be destroyed by humans and animals
