IQRA UNIVERSITY ENTREPRENEURIAL WORKSHOP 2012 IUEW 12
Iqra University Entrepreneurial Society (IUES) intends to organize 2 days All Karachi
Entrepreneurial Workshop in EDC Auditorium on 16th & 17th June 2012 under faculty advisor;
Mrs. Rosy Tanveer Malik, Patron; Mr. Muntazir Mehdi and a number of faculties as IUEWBoard of Advisors. Understanding the importance of entrepreneurs in an economy we have set
our mission to enlighten students about significance of entrepreneurship in national and
international scenarios in order to facilitate them to surmount challenges faced in setting upSMEs.
The theme for the workshop will be Igniting Entrepreneurial Pursuit". This theme signifies
objectives of conducting this workshop. We aim to inspire those students who have never
considered entrepreneurship as a career and motivate them to launch new startups, create an
environment where ideas and experiences are shared and help them understand the journey fromideation to launch of an enterprise. Theme also signifies this workshop will going to direct
students from thinking themselves as merely managers/administrators to actual risk takers in
production of goods and services in the economy.
IUEW 12 will ignite in its participants the will to do more, to take up the reins of their lives, togo beyond being sedentary corporate slaves and take charge of their destiny. Through a series ofkeynote sessions, interactive workshops and creative activities, this two-day conference will be a
stimulating crash course in starting a new business venture together with the various issues every
entrepreneur must face. The participants will receive expert guidance through each step startingfrom the laying down of the seeds, to cultivating and preparing the land, accounting for changes
in the environment and through perseverance, see their hard work flourish and blossom into one
of the biggest achievements of their lives.
We will be inviting esteemed guests from the corporate world and allowing them to share their
first hand experience during speakers session and panel discussion. They will discuss on diverseyet frequently encountered subjects ranging from Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain (Logistics),
Asset and Liquidity Management, Political Economics, Social and Cultural Barriers,
Webpreneurship (IT), International Market, Innovation, Leadership and Motivation.
IUEW 12 will present students with opportunity to enter into a business plan competition where
participants will be required to create business idea along with entire feasibility report, onlyparticipants with viable business proposals after screening out through several steps will be
allowed to present their ideas on the day of the workshop and convince evaluators (and audience)
about their plans. Winner and runners ups will be given rewards and certificates to appreciateand acknowledge their efforts.
IUEW 12 features are profound lineup of speakers, learning-based activities to stimulatethinking, panel discussions to enable youths to learn from multi dimensional approach, bottle
neck business plan competition and dazzling social event. It will promise to disburse imperative
business related philosophies to the youths in a hassle-free and friendly atmosphere.

Event Details
Opening Ceremony: IU Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deputy Registrars, HOD alongwith esteemed faculties and guests will be cordially invited to mark the beginning of the Iqra
University Entrepreneurial Workshop. It will include recitation of Holy Quran, National Anthem,
key notes from heads of IU, Faculty Advisor, Patron and President of IUES.
Group Speakers: This event has been designed to give entrepreneurs (participants) deepunderstanding of common barriers and challenges usually encountered in setting up ventures and
solutions needed in order to circumvent those hurdles. Esteemed guests from corporate worldwill be invited to enlighten students with their experience. Speakers will be called in groups to
only speak on one broad topic (such as Marketing, Liquidity, or Asset Management) per group.
There will be 3 numbers of speakers in a group. To keep level of speech lofty each speaker willbe given 20-25 minutes to speak. Topics for the group will be communicated to the speakers
before hand in order to maintain proper logical format for the entire event in light of overall
theme.
Video Competition: Only registered students will present videos of 2 to 3 minutes time duration
to the panel of judges (and to the audience). The aim behind this idea is to give participants indepth understanding of market segmentation, target market, positioning, branding and
promotions of the product/good/idea in socially responsible manner. According to pre
determined criteria winner will get a reward and appreciation in closing ceremony at the end of2nd day.
Panel Discussion: It will consist of 4 panelist from finance back ground (such as brokerage firmor capital venture) who will discuss in depth about future prospect of the economy, opportunities,
and techniques of raising finances in Pakistan. Students will be given opportunity to ask
questions.
Drama Night: After whole day of hefty debate and discussion, participants will be given ampleopportunity to relax and enjoy the Drama Night (Stage Show). IU Drama Society will presentexciting and productive script show.
IU Young Entrepreneurs: Students of Iqra University will be invited to come on stage and
share their entrepreneurial success stories. We dont always have to look miles away to find
suitable examples to inspire us; we believe we have those examples among us. Only interested
students will be notified before hand to write an abstract of their achievements and register forthis segment, after screening some students will be selected.
Business Plan Competition: heart of the entire event. IUEW 12 will present students with
opportunity to enter into a business plan competition where participants will be 1st
required tocreate business idea and concept paper and submit it 3 weeks before the event date for approval
or rejection. Short listed participants will later be required to submit entire feasibility report 1week before the event. Finally, only participants with viable business proposals will be allowed
to present their ideas on the day of the workshop and convince evaluators and audience about
their plans. Judges panel will include professionals from versatile background to gauge the

performance of participants. Getting success from this step, winner and runners ups will be given
rewards and certificates to appreciate and acknowledge their efforts.
Closing Ceremony: IU Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deputy Registrars, HOD alongwith revered faculties and guests will be cordially invited in the closing ceremony. Awards and
mementos will be given to the winners of video competition, business plan competition,organizing team (including Patron, Faculty Advisors and Mentors) along with thanking notes touniversity and management for their relentless support and guidance.
Theme Dinner: After the closing ceremony of the event, extravagant social event, theme dinner,is planned to hallmark this event in the mind of participants for long time. It will comprise of
dance party and standup comedy along with formal dinner.

Approximately 43% of the conference expenses will be covered by sponsorship money
making registration fees affordable for students to participate.
All the revenue generated will be utilized in providing services to the participants, until breakeven is achieved.
Food prices at Asad Caf in EDC Campus will be subsidized for the participants. Guest Speakers will be invited for conducting speakers session. Our aim will be to provide
participants with quality educations therefore few speakers might be paid for conducting
sessions. Budget forecasting will be done regularly in order to avoid potential losses. In case of
foreseen deficit, we will be retrenching some accessories to be provided in the workshopsuch as folder, guide outlet etc.
Note: After acceptance of this proposal, we will submit list of essential requirements, with
specifications based on above budgeting, for further approval which will be necessary forconducting IUEW 12.
