Running From Tigers: Reflex Integration for Regulation (2 hours)

Jordan Bell, Occupational Therapist - Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy- Newton

Do you know a child who is: biting others, throwing excessive tantrums, not sleeping, not toilet training, unable to calm themselves, struggling with eating, or having difficulty managing their behaviors? This course is designed to educate child care providers on identifying the reasons why children may be dysregulated, and provide simple activities that can be done to promote regulation. Children with retained primitive reflexes function as if they are always ready to run from a tiger. Through integrating these reflexes we help children to regulate their systems so that cognition can take over instead of reactions. Through movement we help transform a child’s functioning from reaction into action.

Be’s, P’s, Tennis Balls and Slippery Eggs (From Parent to Partner)

Children do not exist in isolation. Each child is, first and foremost, a member of a family. The relationships we build with families are as important as our relationships with the children. What can we do to continue to nurture stable, quality relationships with children’s families and keep the lines of communication open for the benefit of all?
