Baroque - The art style or art movement of the Counter-Reformation in the seventeenth century. Although some features appear in Dutch art, the Baroque style was limited mainly to Catholic countries due to sponsorship by the Catholic Church, trying to return to tradition and spirituality. It is a style in which painters, sculptors, and architects sought emotion, movement, and variety in their works. Baroque Art tends to be less complex, more realistic and more emotionally affecting

Rococo ArtistsRococo - An eighteenth century art style which placed emphasis on portraying the carefree life of the aristocracy rather than on grand heroes or pious martyrs. Love and romance were considered to be better subjects for art than historical or religious subjects are. The style was characterized by a free, graceful movement; a playful use of line; and delicate colors. Rococo was centered in France, and is generally associated with the reign of King Louis XV. It is a light, elaborate and decorative style of art

• Romanticism emphasized the individual, the subjective, the irrational, the imaginative, the personal, the spontaneous, the emotional, the visionary, and the transcendental.
