Madge Griffith Elementary School
June 5 , 2019
Volume 4, Issue 10
We wish our Eagles and their families a fun, safe, happy and healthy summer!
We’ll see you back here on August 14th!
Enjoy your summer!
Over 300 Eagles completed their ST Math Program and were invited to a
grade level ST Math Party hosted by Mr. Gibbons. Students enjoyed free
time, popsicles and popcorn! Way to go Eagles!
In the fall of 2013, during my first week as Principal of Griffith, I took this fun
photo with some of our PK students. Now, 6 years later, these kids are leaving
Griffith to be amazing 5th graders at Clute Intermediate. Thank you, Jr.,
Brayden, Aryon & Fernando for recreating this picture with me. – Dr. Matt
A Look Back
Custodian of the Month
ST Math Party
Congratulations to Rosa Robledo for
being chosen Employee of the Month in
our Custodial Department. Rosa helps
keep Griffith a clean, healthy place to be,
and we are blessed to have her on our
campus! Thank you!
All STAAR Saturday Drone Winners
Third and Fourth grade Eagles who attended
the All STAAR Saturday program received
additional tutoring in preparation for the
STAAR Tests. Each week PTO provided pizza
and prizes and, as an added bonus at the end of
the 6 weeks, those students who attended all 6
weeks were put in a drawing for a drone!
Thanks to our generous parents and PTO for
donating the drones and to everyone who
participated in the program helping our Eagles
to be prepared for their STAAR tests!

Janice’s Storybook Summer
Special thanks to the Brazosport Rotary Club for
sponsoring Janice's Storybook Summer at Griffith.
We had 5 guest readers in our 1st grade classrooms.
Thank you to Margaret and Orren Gaspard, Patricia
Sardan, Carolina Damian and Eldona Menefee. After
enjoying a story called “The Best Chef in 2nd Grade”
each student was given a book to take home for the
summer. Janice's Storybook Summer takes place each
May in memory of a BISD teacher, Janice Eubanks.
Thanks to continued community support, the project
has been presenting books for 12 years.
Our Kindergarteners did an
amazing job in their
“Oh the Places You’ll Go”
performance! They also had
their Kindergarten Graduation
during the evening
performance! Congratulations
to all of you! We know you’ll
go places you never imagined
and accomplish great things!
Thank you to Mrs. Schurtz
and the staff who assisted her
in organizing and planning
this program!
EPIC Program
We would like to thank the
performer and Mascot Kazoo
from EPIC Entertainment for
visiting Griffith to encourage
our Eagles to do their best on the
STAAR Tests. They shared
important information with our
students and engaged them in fun
games. Thank you to Ms. Sidney
and Ms. Gonzales for
participating in the program. A
special thanks to Mrs. Lopez for
organizing the program!
Griffith 4th Graders joined students from Ogg
and Polk for a giant picnic at the park and a
chance to mingle before they go to school
together at Clute Intermediate next year.

Griffith Eagles are multi-talented.
They danced, sang, did magic
