    Appropriate Voting Age

    A. INTRODUCTION1. Attention-getter:

    a. The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'.

    This is very important for every one of us because we will know how, us youth, is

    being deprived of some very crucial privilege. That is voting.

    3. Credentials of Speaker (Credibility):RA 8189The Voters Registration Act of 1996

    Sec. 9. Who may Register. - All citizens of the Philippines not otherwise disqualified

    by law who are at least eighteen (18) years of age, and who shall have resided in the

    Philippines for at least one (1) year, and in the place wherein they propose to vote, for

    at least six (6) months immediately preceding the election, may register as a voter.

    Any person who temporarily resides in another city, municipality or country solely by

    reason of his occupation, profession, employment in private or public service,

    educational activities, work in the military or naval reservations within the

    Philippines, service in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the National Police

    Forces, or confinement or detention in government institutions in accordance with

    law, shall not be deemed to have lost his original residence.

    Any person, who, on the day of registration may not have reached the required age or

    period of residence but, who, on the day of the election shall possess such

    qualifications, may register as a voter.4. Destination/ Objective Sentence:

    Today, I want to prove to everyone that we are already able to decide and vote for

    ourselves without being acquiescent to what the politicians and other adults are

    saying just to brainwash us. That us, below 18 y/o are already capable of voting.

    5. Map to your Destination: Speech Preview:I will inform you about how liberal minded and able the youth is when it comes to

    politics, the benefits the country & the youth will gain mutually, and what I think is

    the right age for voting, so you will be convinced that the minimum voting age should

    be lowered down.

    Transition: I will start by stating how teens are already open-minded.

    B. BODY1. Liberalism of the youth

    a. Psychological fact: Brain & memory is already developed at age 7b. Politics is being discussed in schoolc. News is a firsthand and free source of information about politics and the govt

    d. If there is youth politics (Sangguniang Kabataan/ SK), there should also beparticipation of youth in higher politics.

    Transition: Now we are done with the youths liberalism, we go to what the youth and the

    government benefit by lowering the voting age.

    2. Profit of both youth and the countrya. Lowering the voting age will increase the interest in politics among adults and

    young people.

    b. Young people will become more politically active and knowledgeablec. It will be an effective medium for the problems of both adults and youth to be

    addressed.

    Transition: Then we are off to what I think is the best minimum voting age.

    3. The appropriate voting agea. 16 y/o is the appropriate voting age

    Transition: Let us sum up what I have told you today.

    C. CONCLUSION1. I talked about lowering the voting age in the Philippines.2. Specifically, I stated the broadmindedness of the youth, benefits of the government

    and the youth for lowering the minimum voting age, & what I thing is the appropriate

    age for voting.

    3. I encourage you to make a move to send your sentiments to the government if youagree with me on this matter.
