A tall and extremely elegant girl joined the class of ‘79 after doing B.Sc. Shebelonged to a traditionalist family of Sukkur. Her sophisticated mannerism andstyle was inimitable.

She would only speak when needed. She was Khalda, who was seen to move inthe group of Talat, Tabinda, Bilquis, Samina, Naheed and Azra. This net of amityand comradeship was a paradigm.

Graduation followed house job and Khalda migrated to the States after marriage.Those were thorny times for the immigrant doctors to find a suitable trainingprogeramme, but Khalda was fortunate to have found a matching in internalmedicine and the rest was history. As an internist she works in a primary caresetting and has been living in Chicago for the past three decades.

Besides keeping relations with the circle of Dow friends, Khalda has been ableto maintain fraternity with Tabinda, Samina and Talat on a long-lasting basis.

Personally she is a very organized and accommodating person, not to mention themost immaculately dressed. She has ornamented her house tastefully and alwayshosts the most delightful parties. Being the eldest in her family she has alwaysbeen dependable and compassionate.

Khalida’s husband Dr. Habib Abbasi is an ER physician and they are blessedwith a son and two daughters. Omair is a doctor and doing his Psychiatryresidency in Nevada. Daughters Aneeka and Anum are college graduates. Khaldaas of today physically looks superbly fit and well. She has been a very regularvisitor to Pakistan to see her parents.

Once again, thank you very much for choosing Khalida Abbasi.Congratulations on being POW of DOW 79.It was during Pediatric housejob, that I came to know Khalida as an honest, respected and hardworking intern. She never complained about being overworked. In her group, they were all favourites of Professor AG Billoo. All the best with your family and wishing you more success in the future. Dear ShoaibThanks for another well written POW. I had hardly known khalda at college. It is primarily because she was a reserved and quite girl. I had a chance to talk to her at Chicago in APPNA meeting. she remains elegant and delightful. It was nice to meet up with her after so many years.ifti

thanks shoaib for the write up on khalda who has remained a very dear and close friend.i admire her for having achieved what she has and also her parents for ensuring that their children do well educationally.she has a wonderful husband who has a superb sense of humor and three lovely children.she is graceful and elegant and a beautiful human being and i am fortunate to have her as a friend.samina
