Program Objectives

Improve achievement of ELL failing to:

Advance one ELD level per year (elem.)

Advance one ESL course per semester (sec.)

Redesignate after one or more years in ELD 5

Redesignate after one or more years in PRP

Program Activities

Provide 120 hours of intensive ELD instruction

- Summer session/intersession- 20:1 student to teacher ratio

Differentiate instruction to meet students’ needs to meet ELD and ELA standards

- Specific teacher training provided- State-approved materials

Grade Level Focus

Central District Intervention Program

- Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8

Local District G ELL Intervention Focus

- Grades 6, 7 and 9 - 12

Responsibilities of Local District

Develop Local District Plan

Select ELD Cadre (ten committed educators)

Attend Cadre Training

Staff ELILP intersession with authorized teachers

Support Central and Local training (ELD Cadre)

Assess the impact of ELIL program on ELL achievement
