• TEKS #1 (1) Writing/purposes. The student writes in a variety of forms, including business, personal, literary, and persuasive texts, for various audiences and purposes. The student is expected to:

• (A) write in a variety of forms with an emphasis on persuasive forms such as logical argument and expression of opinion, personal forms such as response to literature, reflective essay, and autobiographical narrative, and literary forms such as poems, plays, and stories;

• (B) write in a voice and a style appropriate to audience and purpose; and

• (C) organize ideas in writing to ensure coherence, logical progression, and support for ideas.

What are Persuasive Forms?

• Persuasive form is when you persuade and convince your audience.

Example:madd persuades their audience not to drink and drive.

What are Logical Arguments?

The form of logical arguments are propositions. A proposition is a statement that is true or false.

for example: “Austin is the Capital of Texas." “Fish have to stay in water to live."

What is Expression of Opinion?

• Expression of opinion means that you are free to speak what you believe.

Example: The 12th Amendment in the constitution is freedom of speech.

What is Personal Form?

Personal Form is Speaking and Listening

Example of speaking:

Students will communicate, think, and learn.

Example of Listening:

Students will listen and understand the ideas of the Speaker.

What are Liturature Forms?

• Literature transmits ideas, reflects societies and eras.

• Expresses the human imagination. It brings understanding, enrichment and joy.

What is a Reflective Essay?

Reflective essay is a piece of writing you complete at the end of the process and an opportunity for you to look back on all of your work.

• The opportunity to look back on your childhood times and to come to a clear understanding of an important event in your life.
