PROFITABLE INDUSTRIES FOR YOUP.V.C. INSULATION TAPE
[CODE NO.1912]A major ingredient in vinyl film was tricresylphosphate (TCP), which was used as aplasticizer. Unfortunately, TCP tended tomigrate, giving the surface of the vinyl film anoily quality and degrading every tape adhesiveknown. Research chemists and engineers at3M set out to create a dependable, pressure-sensitive tape made of vinyl film that wouldhave the required electrical, physical andchemical properties. Tapes formulated for high-temperature were yellow, and later versionswere white. White tape, because of its instabilityin ultraviolet light, was eventually replaced withblack tape, although colored vinyl tapes arestill used as identification and marking tapes.Black became the standard industry color forvinyl standard tape, primarily because of itsultraviolet resistance. Thicknesses originallywere 4 mil (100 µm), 8 mil (200 µm) and 12 mil(300 µm). These were standardized to 7 mil(180 µm) and 10 mil (250 µm) in 1948.Electrical tape (or insulating tape) is a type ofpressure-sensitive tape used to insulateelectrical wires and other material that conductelectricity. It can be made of many plastics, butvinyl is most popular, as it stretches well andgives an effective and long lasting insulation.Electrical tape for class H insulation is madeof fiberglass cloth.

Water & Air is basic need of life which can notbe avoidable at any circumstances. Throughthese two gifts of nature are freely availablethe quality is far below the level of purity forhuman consumption of pollution. It is needlessto mention that water, a compound of Hydrogenand Oxygen is a recious natural gift which isvery essential for survival of mankind includinganimals. The water used for potable purposesshould be free from undesirable impurities. Thewater available from untreated sources suchas Well, Boreholes and Spring is generally nothygienic and safe for drinking. Thus it isdesirable and necessary to purify the water andsupply under hygienic conditions for humandrinking purpose. As the name implies, themineral water is the purified water fortified withrequisite amounts of minerals such as Barium,Iron, Manganese, etc which can be absorbedby human body. It is either obtained from naturalresources like spring and drilled wells or it isfortified artificially by blending and treating withmineral salts. The mineral water shall be

Theprincipal types of confectionery are handboiled goods, caramel and toffee, comfits ordraggees, and lozenges. Sugar is the principalingredient of confectionery. There are about 50important confectionery factories in thecountry. Mainly in U.P. Bihar, Mumbai, Punjab, and Bengal. In addition, a large number ofsmall concerns are producing sugarconfectionery with indigenous equipments. Thecovering of chocolates was originally carriedout solely by hand the process being knownas `hand dipping'. Each piece or `centre' washandled individually, dropped into moltenchocolate (temperature 88- 92 deg.F), covered, and finally placed a plaque to set. The processgave results which even today are superior toany mechanical methods although inproduction to out put, a high cost of labour isinvolved.

SUPERABSORBENT POLYMER(POLY ACRYLIC ACID BASED)
[EIRI-1745]Superabsorbent polymers are primarily usedas an absorbent for water and aqueoussolutions for diapers, adult incontinenceproducts, feminine hygiene products, andsimilar applications. Undoubtedly, in theseapplications, superabsorbent materials willreplace traditional absorbent materials suchas cloth, cotton, paper wadding, and cellulosefiber. Commercial production ofsuperabsorbent polymers began in Japan in1978, for use in feminine napkins. This earlysuperabsorbent was a crosslinked starch-g-polyacrylate. Polyacrylic acids eventuallyreplaced earlier superabsorbents, and is thepr imary polymer employed forsuperabsorbent polymers today.1 In 1980,European countries further developed thesuperabsorbent polymer for use in babydiapers. This first diapers employing thistechnology used only a small amount ofpolymer, approximately 1-2 g.

STAINLESS STEEL UTENSILS[EIRI-1746]
Stainless steel cookware and bake ware isexceptionally durable. Once stainless steelhas been stamped, spun or formed intoutensil shape, it takes an extremely hard blowto dent it. Its attractive finish won’t corrode ortarnish permanently, and its hard, tough, nonporous surface is resistant to wear.Extremely smooth and scratch resistant, stainless steel utensils take an excellentpolish. Top-of-the-range cookware, bakeware, pantryware, tools and other equipment arefrequently produced in stainless steel, whicheases the work of homemakers. Like othersteels, stainless steel is an al loy—acombination of iron and other metals. Whatmakes it different from other steels, however,is that it contains at least 11 percentchromium. It is chromium that makes steel“stainless” all the way through. Stainless steelmay also contain other elements, such asnickel, molybdenum, columbium or titanium. These materials can contribute specialhardness, high temperature resistance, andresistance to scratching and corrosion to thefinished stainless steel alloy.

COLD STORAGE PLANT[EIRI-1757]
All fruits and vegetables require specializedpost harvest treatment, appropriatetemperature and relative humidity for theirstorage. Establishment of cold storageprovides refr igerated storage andpreservation facilities for several fruits, vegetables & flowers. Because of technologyadvancements and logistic strategies, the coldstorage of perishable items has become animportant stage in the distribution betweenmanufacturers/processors and retai llocations. The cold storage will ensure theincreased availability and improved quality ofhigh value perishable fruits and vegetablesfor both export and local sale, which wouldotherwise perish or deteriorate. This projectis designed for storing of potatoes and apples/kinnu etc. but it can be used to store multipleproducts, stored in different compartments ofthe unit, where relative temperatures forrespective products can be maintained. Themajor clientele of this business will be theexport houses and the local trading andmarketing units of potato and apple/ kinnu. The project will further aim at storing fruits &vegetables even during off-seasons. Theproject will ultimately assist the clientele inmaintaining market pr ice equil ibr iumthroughout the year for potatoes.

KRAFT PAPER FROM WASTECARTON BOXES [EIRI-1758]
Paper form a commodity of prime importanceto Day from the par ts of view of masscommunication, education, and industrial andeconomic growth. The art of paper makingwas first discovered in China in and around2nd century. B.C. pan where it travelled slowlywest ward and reached the prantiens ofEurope. By the end of 14th century, a memberof paper mill existed in Europe, particularly inSpain, Italy, France and Germany. theinvention of printing in 1956 brought a vastlyin creased demand for paper, and paper-manufacturing was introduced to England.America fol lowed in 1690. Agriculturalresidues, such as bagasse, rice husk, wheathusk jute sticks, grasses, etc are fastbecoming popular materials for papermaking. considerable attention is being givento the utilization of various agricultural byproducts for preparing pulp for papermanufacture landable efforts are being makein this direction. Paper production requires adisintegration of the bulky fibrous material toindividual or small agglomerate fibres. This iscalled pulping. The ideal fibre for high grade
paper should be long, high in cellulosecontent and low in ligrin content.

INDUSTRIAL PAINT AND INKS(VARIOUS TYPES) [EIRI-1766]
Organic coatings are composed of pigmentssuspended in a vehicle. The vehicle or carrierconsists primarily of a resinuous of driers, plasticizers and stabilizers as required. As thepaint film dries, these vehicles changes froma liquid to the solid film by one or more ofseveral mechanisms. 1. Evaporation ofSolvents. 2. Oxidation (of a drying oil). 3.Polymerization through application of heat, addition of catalyst, or combination of reactivecomponents. The pigments contribute such
properties as inhibitions of a metal surface(red lead & zinc chromate), reinforcement ofthe film, stabilization against deterioration bysunlight, controlled chalking (titanium oxide)and colour clear coating (varnishes, lacquers& shellac) are not pigmented. Inorganiccoatings such as the zinc silicates also maybe though of as a pigment suspended in avehicle. In this case, the pigment con consistsof metallic zinc dust, and the vehicle is ablend of water soluble silicates.

ELECTRICAL INSULATIONBOARD [EIRI-1769]
Decorative plastic laminate is a durable flatsheeting material used in home and industrialfurnishings. It is most familiar under theFormica brand name. The FormicaCorporation is the world’s largestmanufacturer of plastic laminate. Other wellknown manufacturers include the PremarkCorporation and DuPont. Decorative laminateis commonly used to surface ki tchencounters, table tops, and cabinetry becauseof its resistance to stains, scratches, andheat. The laminate sheets are made up ofthree layers: the bottom layer of brown papercoated with phenolic resin, a second layer ofpaper decorated with the desired pattern, anda third layer of clear sheet. Both the secondand third layers are coated with melamineresin. Plastic laminate was first used as aninsulating material for industrial products. Thematerial was resistant to heat, water, chemicals, and electric current, thus havingthe properties to replace hard rubber andshellac for electrical insulation. Baekeland’smany experiments included impregnatingpaper with Bakeli te resin and thencompressing it under molds at high pressureand temperature in a process known asthermosetting.

It is normally manufacturedfrom either sugar cane or date palms, butrecent trends in its manufacture have resultedin jaggery made from the sap of coconut andsago palms. While jaggery is useful incooking, it is also an ancient part of Ayurvedicmedicine and has spiritual significance inIndia too. This type of sugar is consideredunrefined and is produced by boiling rawsugar cane or palm juice in iron pans. It isthen formed into blocks. Because it does notgo through additional processing, it doesretain some of the natural vitamins andminerals of the ingredients used, thoughboiling the juice does deplete some of these. Many people do consider jaggery healthierthan more refined sugar since it is lessstripped of natural nutrients.

I M F L & COUNTRY LIQUOR[EIRI-1780]
Gin, vodka, and related spirits like aquarit aredistinguishable from whisky, rum and brandywhich themselves have a number of commoncharacteristics. The most evident differenceis in colour, with gin an vodka normally beingcolourless white whisky, rum and brandy varyin shade from straw-coloured to the deepestbrown. This immediate difference is linkedwith distinguishing features of compositionand flavour which are reflected in the methodsof production of the two troup of sprits. Theaurd whisky comes from the Gaelic wordwisge-beatha, as the Irish called it, incomingthe water of life. The colour in whisky, rumand brandy oves it origin to the practice ofageing or maturing these spirits in woodencasks, which as containers have previouslyused for transporting some compatible liquidsuch as slerry, wine or molasses. Residuesof previous contents, together with substanceextracted from the wood itself, serve togive the maturing spirit a brown colour whichin interest of standardization, issupplemented by the addition of caremel. The requirement for maturation in wood isnow codified in lay standing whisky is thepotable spirit obtained by distillation of anaqueous extract of an infusion of mattedbarley and after cereals that has beenferr iented with strains of sacctromyusceramisial. Various types of whisky areproduced in a number of different countriesin the world.
