Educational Stipend Available - Apply BeforeOctober 15!
AODA offers an educational stipend up to $500 to help cover
financial costs of attending a meeting. Application for the
Winter/Spring round is now open and is for conferences taking place
between December 1, 2017 – May 31, 2108.

Where Do Bananas Come From?
AODA member Arielle “Dani” Lebovitz is a Registered Dietitian
Nutritionist with a master’s degree in health communications and two
specialty credentials in diabetes education and sports dietetics. Her
passion is teaching kids about food and encouraging them to try new
things through experience-based education. She wrote Where do
Bananas Come From? A Book of Fruits, a book designed for the
whole family to enjoy together. Discover “good for my body” nutrients;
learn how fruit is grown; when it’s in season; and how to pick, store,
and eat fruit. Engage your five senses and use words from the book
to describe the flavor and texture of each fruit. Delight your taste

With the prevalence of cardio- metabolic disorders reaching
pandemic proportions, the search for modifiable causative factors
has intensified.One such potential factor is the vast
microbial community inhabiting the human gastrointestinal track,the
gut microbiota. For the past decade evidence has accumulated
showing the association of distinct changes in gut microbiota
composition and function with obesity type 2 diabetes and
cardiovascular disease.
This webinar will explore the relationship between the gut barrier
function ad obesity metabolic syndrome and diabetes. We will look at
current research and look at practical methods which can heal gut
barrier function and balance the microbiota in order to shift
metabolism towards health.
