Siemens
Siemens is a global powerhouse focusing on the areas of electrification,
automation and digitalisation, that has stood for engineering excellence,
innovation, quality, reliability and internationality for more than 165 years. One of
the world’s largest producers of energy-efficient, resource-saving technologies,
Siemens is a leading supplier of systems for power generation and transmission
as well as medical diagnosis. In infrastructure and industry solutions the
company plays a pioneering role. As of 30 September 2015, we had around
348,000 employees in more than 200 countries. In fiscal 2015, we generated
revenues of €75.6 billion
Siemens has been in Australia and New Zealand for 143 years and now employs
about 2,000 people. Our technology can be found behind the scenes supporting
critical infrastructure, and almost every industry. The company’s fingerprint can
be found supporting everything from generating efficient and clean energy
through to advanced medical imaging and diagnostics equipment. You will find
Siemens automation, electrification and digitalisation technology in everything
from the lane change controls on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, through to energy
efficiency at the MCG and even hi-tech simulation used to help protect the Great
Barrier Reef. Significant industries ranging from oil and gas to mining, roads and
rail, food and beverage, manufacturing, buildings and construction,
pharmaceuticals, water and energy utilities and even the latest wind farms being
built in South Australia all rely on Siemens technologies.
Siemens has a number of MoUs signed with stakeholders including Engineers
Australia, Simulation Australasia and the South Australian Government; as well
as an MoU with Defence Science and Technology Group and Queensland
University of Technology to advance High Temperature Superconductors.
Siemens has contributed over $AU5 million of technology and software in
support of these MoUs. Other recent investments include new Service Centres
built in Rockhampton, Perth Airport, and Tonsley Technology Precinct in South
Australia.
With a global view on the trends and changes affecting the world now and in the
future, Siemens actively supports local industry, governments and stakeholders
to understand and prepare for key changes such as the fourth industrial
revolution (Industry 4.0), the transition to intelligent infrastructure and the
transition to a sustainable energy future.

Jeff Connolly
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens
Jeff Connolly is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens in the Australia
Pacific re-gion.
Siemens has been active in Australia since 1872, has a turnover of > A$2 billion
and employs over 2,200 people. A technology-agnostic company, Siemens is
one of the world’s largest pro-ducers of energy-efficient and resource-saving

technology.
With 380,000 employees worldwide, Siemens is the leader in industrial software,
automation and electrification technologies.
In addition to leading Siemens in the region, Jeff Connolly is instrumental in areas
such as the Germany-Australia relationship, Industry 4.0, the future of energy
and smart infrastructure as seen by his various other roles such as: President of
Ai Group Victoria Council;Chairman of the German-Australian Chamber of
Industry and Commerce; Director of the European Australian Business Council;
and Founding member of the Australian Advanced Manufacturing Council and
former Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Industry 4.0 Taskforce.
