Endeavour Schools Newsletter 30th October 2014 www.endeavourschool.wa.edu.au Issue 17 Primary School Hello Parents, Caregivers and Community Members, Fourth term is really motoring along with many things to happen or have happened already. A huge thank you goes to all parents who attended the Faction Carnival and to the P&C for their work on the day. The crowds at these events are surely growing. Well done, to the students for their participation and to the staff, especially Mr Nurse, for the job they did leading up to the carnival and on the day. Well done, also to Centaurus for winning their first ever carnival. Good luck to our competitors at Friday’s Inter-school Carnival. A small display of our students’ work is currently on show in the Secret Harbour Shopping Centre for the wider community to see our great kids’ work. The display will be there until the end of this week. PARKING: Several complaints have been made about inconsiderate and dangerous parking practices around the school – mainly on both sides of Achiever Drive and the car park at the rear of the Undercover Area. The City of Rockingham Rangers have been notified and we have been advised that patrols will be increased in an attempt to stop unlawful or dangerous parking. Your efforts in helping our parking concerns will be appreciated. SCHOOL BOARD: In Week 4 (next week), we will be calling for nominations for places on the 2015 School Board. Please consider nominating as this Board will assist with aspects of both schools and school life at Endeavour. Training for Board members will be offered. If you are interested and want more information, please contact Jayne Gorbould or myself at school – we are more than happy to discuss the School Board with interested people. KINDY 2015: The good news is that Kindy classes for 2015 will be as for this year – two and a half days per week or 15 hours. We still have places available for Kindy and ask, that if you have not enrolled, please do so as soon as possible. On Monday, all students from K – 3 undertook the Cycle Safe Program and, hopefully, they will be displaying new safety skills and knowledge when out cycling on the roads. A lot is planned for the next 7 weeks and everyone will be extremely busy at school over this period. Parents are asked to ‘keep an eye open’ for information sent home in note form or via the schools’ App and newsletter – this will keep everyone up to date and lessen any confusion about what is happening and when. Keep up the great work, everyone. Alan Hansen - Principal Education Support Centre Dear Parents and Caregivers, We are the winners! Once again this year, some of our classes participated in the Meerilinga Children’s Week Art Awards and we were notified that Endeavour Education Support Centre was the winner of the Group Art Award. This was fantastic recognition of our students and staff for all of the hard work they put in to getting out into the community and using their skills in a community project. We are very proud of this award as it demonstrates what we can achieve when our staff and students work together through the sharing of ideas and practical support. All staff and students invovled with the project attended the awards ceremony on Wednesday, 22 nd October under the BIG TOP at the Sorrento/Duncraig Recreational Space. Their artwork will be proudly displayed in the State Library of WA for the month of November before being returned to our school. My personal congratulations go to everyone (both students and staff) in Rooms 16 and 19 as well as Mrs Ryan.
