For our cruise on the beautiful Rhine we will have the pleasure of sailing on the ms AmaKristina, which made its debut in 2017. This deluxe 158 passenger vessel features modern design elements along with all the fine amenities that we have come to expect from AmaWaterways. We will be travelling in spacious comfort in beautifully-decorated cabins that include private bathrooms, a small sitting area, a writing desk, a flat-screen television with complimentary Internet and first-run Hollywood movies, ample wardrobes, individual temperature controls, a safe, and a telephone. All cabins come with twin beds that convert to one large bed if you so choose. Enjoy spectacular views of the river and countryside through large picture windows in cabins on the Piano Deck, while all cabins on the Cello and Violin Decks offer French balconies with full-height glass doors that open and many with Outside balconies as well. Do step out of the luxurious comfort of your cabins occasionally, however, as the rest of the ship is equally inviting! May 12, Tuesday Amsterdam After breakfast, our tour of Amsterdam begins with a scenic canal cruise through the city known as the “Venice of the North.” See the beautiful homes that line the water, the fabled Skinny Bridge, and the famous house where Anne Frank once lived in hiding during WWII. Enjoy a panoramic city tour of the great landmarks of Amsterdam, including a picturesque windmill. Afterwards, enjoy some free time to explore on your own before returning to the ship, which will depart this afternoon en route to Germany. BLD

May 13, Wednesday Cologne / Koblenz, Germany This morning we enjoy a guided tour through Cologne’s old town, Cathedral Square, and visit the fabled 13th century Gothic cathedral. Enjoy some free time to explore on your own. The ship departs this afternoon for Koblenz where it will moor overnight. BLD

May 14, Thursday Rüdesheim This morning we cruise through the Rhine Gorge, the most stunningly beautiful stretch of the river, with hillsides dotted with fairy tale castles. Arriving in Rüdesheim you will have a choice of activities. You may wish to enjoy a wine tasting at a local vintner or take a gondola ride above the town to see the Niederwalddenkmal Statue. Some free time will be available to explore the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with wine taverns and restaurants. This evening visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. BLD

May 15, Friday Mannheim Early this afternoon, arrive in Mannheim and choose from two excursions. Enjoy either a tour of Medieval Speyer, one of Germany’s oldest cities known for its Cathedral, churches, and the Altpörtel, a 13th century gate tower, or a half day excursion to Heidelberg. There, you will visit the red-walled Castle and its Great Vat, a 49,000-gallon 18th century wine cask, and see beautiful views of the Neckar Valley and Heidelberg below. This evening we continue onward, cruising to Strasbourg, France. BLD May 16, Saturday Strasbourg, France This morning we arrive in Strasbourg, the capital of the Alsace region in Northeastern France. This picturesque

town is most known for its black and white timber-framed houses, covered bridges and medieval watchtowers. We enjoy a panoramic city tour which will take us past the Orangery, the town’s oldest park, the European Parliament and the Place de la République. Afterwards, enjoy a walking tour of the charming “La Petite France” district, with its sandstone Gothic cathedral and famous astronomical clock. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. BLD

May 17, Sunday Breisach, Germany Today you have the opportunity to choose from two exciting excursions. The first is a walking tour of Riquewihr, a picturesque French town that looks much as it did back in the 16th century. The second option is a walking tour of Breisach and Freiburg. Breisach is a beautiful town that is home to one of Europe’s largest wine cellars. In Freiburg, visit the historical city centre and the Augustinerplatz located near the beautiful Freiburg Münster, a red sandstone Gothic cathedral. BLD

May 18, Monday Basel / Zurich, Switzerland / Lake Constance, Germany Switzerland’s second largest city is ideally located at the crossroads of Switzerland, France and Germany. Long an important university, banking and trade centre, Basel’s glorious past is still evident in its medieval Town Hall and exquisite 18th century patrician homes. Disembarking this morning, we will meet our National Guide and driver and head into the Swiss mainland. Zurich, a global centre for banking and finance, lies at the north end of Lake Zurich. The picturesque Altstadt, or Old Town, on either side of the Limmat River, and the 17th century Rathaus, or City Hall, showcase the town’s pre-medieval history. Enjoy a panoramic tour of the city before we enjoy lunch and some free time on our own. In the afternoon we continue to Lake Constance and to our hotel. Disembark / Hotel Halm (2 nights) BD

May 19, Tuesday Konstanz A local guide will take us on a morning walk through Konstanz, uniquely located on the shores of the lake and the River Rhine. The historical old town has remained relatively unchanged since the Middle Ages. Learn more about the Council of Konstanz held from 1414 to 1418, where the Roman-Catholic church attempted to resolve their problems by electing three popes instead of one. You will also learn more about Jan Hus, an early church reformer. We will enjoy lunch on our own before visiting the Flower Island of Mainau in the afternoon. May 21, Thursday Oberammergau / The Passion Play We will have the late morning free to enjoy the colourful paintings in the village and to do a little shopping. Following lunch, the highlight of the trip, the Passion Play in Oberammergau begins! The Play was instituted in fulfilment of a vow made in 1633, when the town was stricken by the plague. It was performed for the first time in 1634 and since then has been performed every ten years. It’s just a short walk from the hotel to the theatre, which was built in 1930 and has seating for 4,800 spectators. While the seats are covered, the stage is open to the elements, using the natural grandeur of the region as a backdrop. BLD

May 22, Friday Munich This morning enjoy some final alpine vistas as we head north to Munich. On arrival a local guide will introduce us to the sights of Bavaria's capital, the Nymphenburg Palace (from the outside), Marienplatz, Frauenkirche and the Olympic Stadium.
