We’ve learned how to write at school. If we’re lucky we learned how to spell and avoid grammar mistakes. But we weren’t taught how to engage our readers, how to keep their attention, how to persuade and inspire.

First, you need to understand and practice the foundations of good writing: Empathy for your reader, creating a hypnotic flow, and how to overcome procrastination to write faster.

Next, you need to learn how to edit to make drab content sparkle—how to make your voice stronger, more personal, more like YOU. You also need to learn how to be persuasive: How to draw attention, keep your readers spellbound, and inspire them with your words. This requires a basic understanding of reader psychology.

Lastly, you need to learn a few creative tricks to add a dash of personality. We’re all creative, and this is the most fun part of learning how to write.

During the first 8 weeks of the course, we write two blog posts step-by-step. You get feedback on every step of your journey, from picking an idea to outlining, writing, and editing.

To consolidate your learning, join the blog writing challenge at the end of the course, and write a blog post from scratch in 5 days. The blog challenge is fully supported—if you feel stuck, you get help. And, of course, you can submit your blog post for a detailed review.

Generic and vague words make your text wishy-washy.

In contrast, sensory and emotional words are powerful and memorable because they make your reader see, hear, smell, taste, or feel something.

Your brain processes sensory words as if you taste a bland or sickly sweet cake, as if you see a dazzling display of colors, as if you feel a rough texture. That's why these words are more valuable than ordinary words.

In week 6, we're playing with words.

Learn how to dazzle, tickle, and touch yourreaders with sensory and emotional words.

We also practice writing sound bites—nuggets of wisdom thatlinger in your readers' minds.

There are no live sessions you need to attend in the middle of the night.

The modules run from Monday to Thursday.

To study all material and complete all assignments, allocate 4 hours per week. The assignments are practical, so you can publish them on your blog.

The course material becomes available eachFriday before a module starts. You can prepareat the weekend to reduce stress during the week.

Don't worry if you get a little behind:

The program includes two breaks for catching up: the week commencing 2 April 2018 and the week commencing 7 May 2018.

At the end of the program, you have two extra weeks to catch up, too. You get feedbackon all assignments submitted on or before 15 June 2018.
