17 - 24 March 2018Karol Oakley is an experienced international tutor and plein-air painter, who loves to share her know how with participants, showing them ways to achieve a plein-air painting in their own style and at their own pace. Norfolk Island has something new to paint every day and these are demonstrated, explained and discussed. Participants choose their own subject/ motif at each painting session or can follow along with the step by step demonstration, with each person receiving individual attention. Karol teaches in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with the emphasis on painting and holiday. Norfolk Island combines the best of both, just for you.

Painting with the pastel medium for over 28 years, Karol Oakley is a professional artist and teacher who has won many awards for her vibrant representational style pastel paintings. “Waterscapes” is the term Karol uses to describe her favourite subject and for which she is mostly known. She also creates paintings in oils and mixed media with her subjects coming from nature, including portraiture,
still life and florals.
As a tutor Karol pays particular attention to each individual’s needs and works with everyone sharing equal time. Her workshops are known for the friendly and fun atmosphere and enthusiasm she shows while sharing her skills. She has a way of instilling confidence and motivating you to look and learn to see. All Karol’s workshops
are a relaxed friendly environment for learning and sharing.
Karol paints from life and in the great outdoors as much possible, developing her skills and knowledge continually. In April 2015 Karol was in Monterey, California, attending the Plein- air Convention and Expo, learning from the greats such as Albert Handell and C.W.
Mundy.
Articles about plein-air and pastel painting have been published many times in Australian Artist Magazine. Karol is a member of the Pastel Society of Australia and a Master Pastellist of over 20 years. A popular and sought after tutor, Karol has tutored many times at the USQ Toowoomba McGregor Summer School, The Greek Islands, Norfolk Island as well as travelling frequently to art groups/societies, teaching workshops and demonstrating pastel painting.
